I managed to install VWD. I downloaded the IMG file and then it worked.

Terminal Services was on Automatic. I tried Disabled, but still was not able to start the BITS.

Right-click on My Computer, choose Manage... Locate Services & Applications node, expand it, go to Services node and in the list at the right find Terminal Services. Change Startup to Automatic.

I tried method 1 and it didn't work. In method 2 I cannot find Terminal Service from the WindowsXP Component List.

I went to WindowsUpdate and updated everything except there was an error for:

Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130) and
Error Code: 0x80246008

If you have any idea what I could try more that would be very good, but anyway I want to thank you very much for having tried to help me with this problem:-)

Hello Arkhipov,

Unfortunately that does not seem to work.

1) I uninstalled winDefender.

2) I do not exactly know what to do with McAfee, but I tried to deactivate the Firewall while installing.

The problem persisted, after 1 and 2.

I tried 3 times to install. Each time there were to errors listed in EventViewer/System.

Well, it seems you are running spyware detector (Windows Defender) and probably MCAfee AV. One of them is blocking BITS service from accessing the Internet.

You may want to add BITS to list of exclusions or temporarily switch off Realtime WD when you are installing VWD.

I have administration rights on my computer. It has WindowsXP installed.

I went to Event Viewer / System. In the list there I gathered a list of the Errors and warnings I saw from 3.3.2006 until today:

1) Error: DCOM 10010 2) Error: ServiceControlManager event 7024 and 7002 (5.3.2006 event 7016) 3) Warning WindDefend 3004 4) Error: IPNATHLP 32003

What does the system log say? You can look into it by right-click on My Computer and selecting Manage... The look at recent events in Event Viewer | System.

-2147024891 is 0x80070005 hex and means "Access Denied". Do you have admin rights on the box?

Hello Mikhail,

1) I installed Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition from a disc that I got with a book about SQL server 2005 Express Edition.

I tried to install Visual Web Developer 2005 by downloading from the Microsoft website.

2) If I go to Services(Local) and select Bacground Intelligent Transfer, then on the left side it says "Start the service". If I press on Start I get following errormessage:

"Windows could not start the Background Intelligent Transfer Service on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code-2147024891"

3) Thank you for pointing out about 2.0 framework. I think I misread the download instructions and was only supposed to uninstall previous editions of 2.0 framework.

Sounds like BITS download service is disabled on your machine for some reason. Did you install VB from download or from media?

Another thing: you should never uninstall 2.0 framework as every 2005 product depends on it. VB Express and SQL won't work without it.

I am trying to install Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition.

I have SQL server 2005 Express Edition and Visual Basic Express edition 2005 installed. But I installed both just last week, so these are not Beta versions.

I uninstalled .NET Framework 2.0.

I followed the troubleshooting guide for this error and everything was the way it was supposed to be. I restarted my computer, but still I have this problem.

I hope someone can help me with this.
