when i try to installl

WebApplicationProjectSetup.msi

its asking me fr some update

i downaladed it

VS80-KB915364-X86-ENU.exe and installed the same but still its asking me fr the update

i am not gettiong web applicatin project , i just have windows appplixcation now

My machine had .NET Framework 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2, 3.5 SP1. Recently enabled IIS 5.1 and tried to run aspnet_regiis from C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 by command prompt and got an alert message "The application failed to initialize properly"

I am trying to configure my new Windows 7 machine for ASP.NET development. When I set it up, I didn't install SQL Server Express, when I installed Visual Studio 2008. I didn't know, when I didn't install SQL Express, that it would have a negative effect upon the ASP.NET Configuration in VS 2008. Now I would like to install SQL Express, so that I can get the ASP.NET Configuration working. Can I install SQL Server 2008 Express, or do I have to install SQL Server 2005 Express?

We had to migrate from a server (Windows 2k3 IIS5) to a new server (Windows 2k3 64 IIS6) due to continuing server errors received but our host when running our .Net 3.5 site.

Thus we started with a blank canvas and installed:

.Net 3.5 x64
SQL Server Express 2008 x86 (as 64 gave installation problems with WoW)
SQL Server Management Studio x86
Frontpage Server Extensions

We then proceeded to:

upload our website from our VDW 2008 account
replace the App_Data folder content with our last backup data from the old server
repalce any uploaded files by users using our last backup files from the old server

We ran the %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe command as advised (to use the 32-bit framework) to display the aspx pages.

Using Windows Explorer, we can see that:

The wwwroot App_Data folder properties>Security have modify rights for both ASPNET and Network Service accounts
The contained ASPNETDB files have also got modify rights set for both MDF and LDF

Using IIS, we can see that:

Default Website has Enable anonymous access checked, and Integrated Windows Authentication
App_Data folder however has Enable anonymous access unchecked, and Integrated Windows Authentication checked as prior

We can connect using localhost to our main webpage but when using the Login button...

Windows 7 Home Premium/VS2005/VS2008/SQL2005/SQL2008 Confusion

Anyone who have related experience please help me with the following:

1) Can Windows 7 Home Premium really allow VS2005/VS2008/SQL2005/SQL2008 to coexist and work perfectly? Can these babies really live and play together in their own age group under the same roof? Please advise.

2) What is the proper order to install all the above on windows 7? Please provide a tested step list. I am especally concerned about SSIS/SSRS/SSAS and SQLExpress that, after their installation on the same box, have caused me big headaches in the past .

3) If SQLExpress is installed in our multiple version scenario, should it be 2005 or 2008 or can it be both?

Hi ,I´ve seen somevideos for ASP.NET 4 and I decided to download the new version of framework and try it...

But I dont know what file am I supposed to donwload, because the files I tried didnt get me the new options in my Visual Studio 2008.

I looked on the gridView options - Behaviour and there was no option ( like int his video http://www.asp.net/learn/aspnet-4-quick-hit-videos/video-8909.aspx ) called EnablePersistendSelection ..

So can you please give me some advice what file should I donwload and install to enable all these options to my VS2008 ?

I also don't want to create a class in namespace for that...I want something like property file in java..means i don't have to recompile after saving changes in that file.

Problem registering asp.net with iis

I'm using IIS 5.1 on Windows XP.

I've executed aspnet_regiis -i and got these results:

Start installing ASP.NET (2.0.50727).

....

Finished installing ASP.NE(2.0.50727).

Start installing ASP.NET (2.0.50727).

....

Finished installing ASP.NET (2.0.50727).

However, when I open the IIS console, right click on the default web site, select properties, then Home Directory tab, then Configuration I do not see .aspx or any other asp.net file extensions listed. Consequently I cannot run any asp.net apps on my XP machine.

Not sure what to do next so any help is appreciated. Please let me know if there is any other information needed.

ASP.NET does not appear in Application Server

The ASP.NET does not appear as a option in the Application server component for my install of window R2 2003 x64.

This is a VM under VMWare. I have two VM's and they both have this problem. The second install does not have R2 install yet.

debug not being hit in VS 2008 and win 7

When I debug my application ,the breakpoint is not hit.It shows error msg saying:-

Breakpoint will not curretly be hit.No symbols are loaded.

Apart from this I am not able to debug by attach to process also.

What can be the problem here?

Getting error while Hosting the site

I Have created a web application ,which accesses the database from the .mdf file which i created in the VS 2008.

I am unable to connect to the mdf file.

In the local environment it is working fine,but when i try to host it on our test server.

we are getting the following error.

A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.)

Please Check it and let me know the work around.

ASP.NET Web App/WebService DLL dependencies

Hi everyone,

I have a web app and some webservices that use enterprise .net libraries (.dll) but when i add these references on my web projects Visual Studio adds some other assemblies that my application doesn't need. I don't know why, but when i create a windows project that use the same libraries just the assembly i add is located as a DLL on my project.

The only solution i have found is to compile the web app and to remove the extra assemblies added to my BIN folder. Is there a reason for that extra DLLs? How can i find the exact DLL dependencies (only what i need) in my web project?

Virtual Path in VS2008 and IIS 6. Can they be the same?

In my visual studio project I have my virtual path set to '/' so it appears to the browser that the site is NOT running in a folder.

http://localhost:333333/ even though it lives in c:\websites\my project folder\

When I move it to IIS to a sub directory c:\websites\my project folder\ the url shows up as http://server1/my project folder/ so img links are not working. The links are in the html so I can not use "~/" as you can with the img control.

Is it possible (and how) to get a virtual directory in IIS to report the same style of url as when running in Visual Studio with Virtual Path set to '/'?

If not, any ideas how this can be dealt with without doing a replace on the content!
