Hi, Can anybody explain, what is the relation and relevance co-ordination between webhosting and domain registration. Is it mandatory to purchase both in single company? Because I already purchased some domains in one company which is not providing windows hosting. That’s way I chosen another company for webhosting. Is it mandatory to transfer all my domains to that company where I purchased the web space?

I am really confused in these processes.

So please guide me with appropriate information.

What are best methods for this process?

Why we need to transfer our domains to another company?

I hv compleated HMC 4.5 setup for Exchange 2007 hosting in a testing environment . Have few issues & need help in fixing them ,

1. When I create a "New Organization" , The organization name used with .com suffix for UPN suffix by default . I want to provide the cutomer public domain name as the login name to OWA . ex . if the customer email is suzanap@rhac.edu.au , I want to provide the same as the login name . Hence how can I customize the UPN suffix ?

2. When I create a new user "pre-windows 2000 login name" appears suffixed with the domain name . Ex for the user suzanap@rhac.edu.au , pre windows 2000 login name is cavhost\suzanap_rhac.edu.au ( correct would be cavhost\suzanap )
(CAVHOST is the parent domain name) how can I fix this ?

3. How can I select the mailstore manually when creating the mailbox

4. I'm not able to get the OAB for any Organization I create . How can I start troubleshooting this .

I will be using Exchange 2007 once I get everything set up and I would like to know what you think about it. All of the information I've been given on it makes it sound wonderful but are there any issues with using it? The thing that makes it most appealing to me is that I will be able to allow unification to all of my messaging services so I can get all emails and voice messages into my mailboxes with Exchange2007 and access them from my cellphone. Have you used exchange for this and what did you like or not about it? Would love honest information on your experiences both good or bad.

Issue with ControlPanelUI

Has anyone had any trouble with the ControlPanelUI website?

Mine was working fine for a long time and now, suddenly, I can't drill into some of my customer containers to see the users. Some of 'em work, some do not. There is no error message...when I click the "+" next to the organization nothing happens.

HMC 4.5; All servers are 2003 R2 Standard.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

There are two issues I am facing in my code
Issue 1. 
The scenario is
From C# code I am opening excel 2007 workbook as database. 
In the workbook there are certain named ranges defined with scope as both 
workbook and sheets. 
e.g. EventLiveDate (workbook level) valInEvent (sheet level)
When I am trying to query them as
1. select * from EventLiveDate
2. select * from ['Store2DG_1'valInEvent]

I am getting result from first but second gives and exception 

"The Microsoft Office Access database engine could not find the object 
''Store2DG_1'valInEvent'.  Make sure the object exists and that you spell its 
name and the path name correctly."

But when i use workbok in excel 2003 this works fine.

Issue 2
Scenario is 
Small size excel 2003 workbook is giving no problem but when size of the 
workbook is 130 MB, it gives runtime error system resource exceeded.

This is a bit urgent .....

Custom OWA pages

Hi,

We have developed a custom OWA pages for one of our clients. The changes were made to an OWA files in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\ClientAccess\owa folder and it is effecting all the users of the OWA feature.As I have more than one :) organization in my HMC 4.0 environment, I need to make available the original OWA page to my other clients. One way to do it is to install another CAS server with OWA and point the clients to it.I am trying to add another OWA instance to the same CAS server (not only the Virtual directory, but the actual files to). Coping the files to another location, changing its permissions to be the same as original and running new-owavirtualdirectory with -path option and then set-owavirtualdirectory to set the same settings, the original OWA has, didn't help - I am getting 440 Login Timeout immediately.If some one can share with me the procedure of creating another physical instance of OWA directory in one CAS server (Exchange 2007 sp1), I will thank him from the deep of my heart :)

Active Directory: Verify if a user exists (???)

Hi friends, I'm developing a system to manage the users of a domain. Functions to create and update are already been createds, but is missing a function to verify if a user exists in Active Directory. I have tried to use the code typed below:

When the user exists, the function DirectoryEntry.Exists returns true and the method continue to end. But, if the user not exists, the function DirectoryEntry.Exists not returns false, but throw a Exception "Generic error". I already tried to use the DirectorySearcher objects, but return error that the server not support search.

I need a solution to my problem, a method to verify if a user exist.

If you can help me, I"ll be happy =)

HMC 4.5 - Provisioning New WSS Sites with Forms Authentication Enabled

I have an issue with HMC 4.5 (which was also apparent in HMC 4.0) - I have changed the configuration of my WSS servers to use Forms Authenitication rather than Windows. I have tested connecting and logging in and all is o.k. but..

When I try to provision a new WSS site for a customer via the Sample UI I recieve the error below. If I swap the Authentication back to Windows and complete the same action it provisions fine.

I was just wondering whether anyone had seen this before and if so is it that I can only use Windows Authentication or is there a method to get Forms to work with HMC?

HMC 4.0 MPSWS and Sampleprovisioning...

Hi,

I have 3 questions:

1. Is it normal that i can't browse to the MPSWS Virtual Directory. Everytime when i open http://prov01/MPSWS i get a authentication prompt voor validation. Authentication is set on basic.

2.When i try to add a new organization in the SampleprovisioningSignupUI i get there error "there is no such object on server" ?

3.Is it normal behavior that i can validate with my administrator account on the SampleprovisioningUI??

unable to dploy MPS problem with locale

So, I'm setting up a hosting for my clients who are hosting companies and they require custom NS servers each.
1. Is it possible to have multiple ns servers on one mahcine?

I will presume it is an proceed with questions.

So, I have installed DNS service feature and now I need guidance of what to do next to make my ns1.dnsdomain.com and ns2.dnsdomain.com work as nameservers.

I have registered ns1.dnsdomain.com and ns2.dnsdomain.com within my registrar. Now, setting up things on server.

I now have set up a new Primary zone, a Forward Lookup Zone with the name "dnsdomain.com" and inside I have created two (2) A records: "ns1" and "ns2" which point each to it's own IP address.

So, now, I don't know how to proceed? - How to edit the zone properties and what do I need to do for each website I am hosting on the same server.

I have opened Properties of the zone and there in SOA record tab I have Serial number field which is 1, and Primary server which is some cryptic name.

In NameServers tab I have one entry which is a cryptic name for FQDN and IP address is unknown.

Please assist what do I need to do with those entries and for hsoted websites entries for websites that will use the first domain as their nameservers.

Procedure RUN.25: To mail-enable the consumer user using the Sample Provisioning UI

Start Microsoft Internet Explorer and browse to http://www.consolidatedmessenger.com/sampleprovisioningui.
On the logon page, enter admin@consolidatedmessenger.com for the user ID, and then enter the password for this account.
In the sample provisioning UI left pane, expand ConsolidatedMessenger, and then expand LitwareInc.
Click to select the user Cindy Durkin. On the sample provisioning UI menu bar, select the Services menu, select Hosted Email, and then click Create Mailbox.(I can only select "Subscribe", can't see "Create Mailbox" in the menu, then the error appears)
In the Create Mailbox dialog box, in the Plan Name drop-down list, select BasicMailbox.
Enter the information given in the following table:

Configuring a custom Windows 2003/8 DNS server for webhosting (asking for help)

Hi to all.
I'm new into administration environment and I'm a bit confused by the Windows DNS thing.
The procedure for 2008 and 2003 is identical, so it can help if you know either.
Now, lets get to the point:

I have a dedicated server behind a firewall. I got IPs assigned to my NIC correctly, and this works nice.
IIS also serves the default web site correctly on all available IP addresses.
However, to map domains onto IP addresses, I need a nameserver. Either one of the hosting company or my own.

I wish to use my own as client (a real owner) wants his clients to use his domain name for a nameserver.

So, I have now installed DNS service on the server and now I am a bit lost about what to do next.
I know I should add zones, etc, but due to the absolute lack of appropriate documentation I'm completely confused with all this and how it works. The mere concept is clear to me, but adding records to DNS service in Windows is kinda complicated and does not base on txt file which I consider would be easier to do and comprehend.

So, what should I do now?
Let's take for example that I have registered domain mynsdomain.com to be a pure nameserver domain and hosting company website.
I have added 83.125.35.20 and 83.125.35.21 to ns1.mynsdomain.com and ns2.mynsdomain.com respectively as my name servers in my registrar.
Those IP addresses (they are made up for demonstration purposes) map via NAT to 192.168.30.20 and 192.168.30.21 respectively.

The first thing that came across my mind is to add a Forward Lookup Zone (Primary zone) for the domain mynsdomain.com.
I did so.
I've also added two A records: ns1 and ns2 record mapping to 192.168.30.20 and 192.168.30.21 respectively for my two name servers.

Now, I have opened zone properties and this is where my problems begin:

- in SOA tab, as entry in Primary server field I have a cryptic name consisting of my system name and my hosting company name separated by dots (a87dhd9machine.planet.local).
I presume TTL and interval values don't matter atm, so let's move onto Name Servers tab.

- in Name Servers tab I have the same cryptic name as a FQDN and no IP addresses mapped to it.
I did what seems logical to me and I've added
192.168.30.20 and 192.168.30.21 IP addresses there. Both validated OK.

Now, I'm asking, what to do next and what I did wrong if I did?

What do I need to change in this zone configuration and how do I add hosted websites that use this name server.

From what I've understood so far, I have to add a new zone for each website (domain) I'm hosting.
But, what about their SOA and Name Servers tabs? What to do there? How I map those to my ns1.mynsdomain.com and ns2.mynsdomain.com?

What is this "add new Domain" thing inside a zone when adding new records? Should I maybe use that?

If I want this machine to be a host for one more ns domain, do I just repeat procedure?

General Windows hosting question

We are a small company that provides a hosted application to about 10 customers currently. Each customer has their own dedicated server which are all members of a Windows Server 2003 domain separate from our primary company domain. We are trying to come up with a soltution to an ongoing issue that we have had. Currently, all of the users are setup as local users on each server so our customers log in using \\<servername>\username. Our goal is to make all of these users domain users so they can log into their servers using \\<domain>\username. This way it's easier to manage, and we won't have to recreate the users if one of the servers crashes. We have the scripts to make local users domain users, but that is not our problem. Our problem is that all of our user logins must be <first name> <last name> so what happens if we have John Smith with customer A and another John Smith with customer B? How can we get around this problem without creating multiple child domains for each customer? It is my understanding that if you want to create a child domain, you need a member server to run DCPROMO. Once a DC is created for one domain it cannot be a DC for another domain. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. I've been looking to MPS, but we only need one small script/component which creates an OU, domain, or whatever it does and I cannot seem to find a solution there. Is there a simple solution to our problem? Thanks.

Recipient Policies in Hosted Exchange

We are having an issue where we setup companies within our HE environment say two weeks before they migrate over to the platfrom from another service. There existing service is pop accounts and whats taking place is when a company already on our platform sends an email to this address it is going to the Hosted Exchange account and not to the pop account on their existing mail server.

I have deleted the recipient policy for the new OU but that should only be for external mailservers trying to send. Is there anyway to have the companies on our current platform not send to the Company and to go outside?

I have moved the organization from one reseller to another reseller, but after moving the organization its not allowing me to perform any operation on moved organization.

I saw one of the similar forum post in which they mentioned

"It seems that the custommer OU's somehow had a reference to a reseller OU that has been deleted. The "otherWellknownObjects" could be modified by ldp (support tools) to the right path"

Can anybuddy tell me how I can achive this ??
