Random mailbox creation error in HMC

We have a problem trying to create consumer mailboxes on our HMC 4.0 system.

This happens around 30% of the time.

1. Some of the mailboxes (around 30%) created showing the following error when accessed by OWA for the first time.

Exception
Exception type: Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.MailboxUnavailableException

Exception message: Cannot open mailbox /o=mail/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Recipients/cn=Test122_test.co.il…

Inner Exception
Exception type: Microsoft.Mapi.MapiExceptionUnknownUser
Exception message: MapiExceptionUnknownUser: Unable to open message store…

The second attempt to access the mailbox using OWA is successful.

The problem occurs randomly and some mailboxes created working in the first attempt accessing OWA.

I should mention that all mailboxes created successfully using MPS Web Services, while MPSWS shows no error.

Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?

We are anticipating installing Exchange 2007 in the Hosted Environment. We expect to support about 3000 mailboxes per server. We are looking for advice on SAS vs SATA vs SAS Near-Line storage. Our question is .. can SATA or SAS Near Line be used in such a mission-critical, always on environment or is conventional SAS really the only way we should go?

Hosted Exchange 2010 SDK

Our company immigrated the hosted exchange from 2007 to 2010, we used to use MPS to create user, mailbox,etc. So the problem is, cause this is no MPS server in 2010 now, is there any replacement of MPS for 2010 to do the same tasks like we did.

Exchange 2007 can't resolve name for Administrator

I have setup a hosted exchange environment according to the Virtual Organizations and Address List Segregation White Paper. Everything is working perfect except that if I try to setup the administrator in Outlook, I get the error the name cannot be resolved. I can also manually create a new user in EMC and I am unable to resolve that name in outlook also.

When I originally did the setup, I set the default global address list to deny for authenticated users. I later went back and renamed that and created a new default global address list and set deny permissions just to the hosted group. I can see the default global address list in web outlook, so I know all the users are in there, it's just outlook will not resolve the name.

I must just be missing something simple. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is anybody know if MSFT will verify compatibilty HMC 4.5 with Exchange 2007 SP2?

On http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/serviceproviders/cc563918.aspx#_Service_Packs or previous location of that list http://blogs.technet.com/provtest/pages/HMC-4.5-Windows-Update.aspx there are no information. I heard (and we can see on few blogs) that most of that team is relocated to other projects.

I'm trying to install performance warehouse database for HMC 4.5 on MS SQL 2008.

In document HMC 4.5 step W08-DWR.6 recommend OMSQL01 server for PWDB40. Our OMSQL01 running MS SQL 2008 in cluser mode, with SCOM DB.

On step W08-DWR.7 (To create the PWDB40 database) on active SQL cluster node we get error:

Could we just make db from scripts which installed together with Pwdb40DBsetup.msi: pwdb40final.sql?

Also the next step: Procedure W08-DWR.10 (To install the PWDB40 SSIS package).

It is possible to install it on Windows 2008/MS SQL 2008 ?

Last question: if install of pwdb40 on MS SQL 2008 impossible, can we setup it to separate server with stand alone MS SQL 2005?

Which purpose of this db?

We are providing hosting at the moment and want to offer Hosted Exchange/OWA as well ; I have a few questions regarding HMC 4.5

Q : What are the requirements of purchasing a HMC control panel from Microsoft ?

Q : We already have the licenses for Windows 2008 ENT/STD, Exchange 2007 ENT/STD etc, would we need to purchase again if we are purchasing HMC from Microsoft?

Q : As it is a control panel developed by Microsoft, does it takes care of Gal Segregation automatically?

Q : Does it provides a interface for our users to administer their organizations/company themselves ?

Q : Pricing : Is it really expensive then the third party ones (Cobweb, ensim etc )

Also, in HMC guidelines everything belongs to different zones in a physical network topology, would HMC recognize that or what is the installation procedure for HMC ? which server it needs to be installed ?

HMC 4.0 - reconnecting a mailbox

Hi there

We have run into a interesting situation. We have an HMC 4.0 platform. One of our users "mistakingly" deleted a mailbox. Now we have a situtaion where we have a disconnected mailbox.

So the first option that comes to mind is to do the MPS create user procedure and then to reattach the maibox. However this means that MPS now does not knwo about the mailbox.

Does anyone know of a way of doing this in such a way that MPS is aware of it?

Mail Archiving in the HMC environment

Hi here all

We have been investigating possible mail archiving solutions for our HMC environment. There seems to be a lot of information out there that indicates that an archiving solution that works with stubs will degrade the performance of large exchange deployments. Microsoft themselves seem to discourage the use of stubs, due to the performance impact that it could have on the database.

The question now being, has anyone come across (or actively using) an archiving solution that does not use stubs, and can scale very very large for an HMC solution?

HMC4 Deployment causes Locale error

Tried Procedure DWSPV.31: To deploy the MPS core platform.

Server Default locale is 2057 (UK), whilst SQL Server on MPS01 reports 1033

Start Deployment causes:

Exception: Microsoft.Provisioning.DeploymentTool.Engine.DeploymentExceptionPrerequisiteFailure
Message: Server 'MPS01' fails at least one prerequisite check.

OAB/AL - after a RUS

Hello,

We have a HMC v 3.5 and RUS has been run. We have fixed the problems regarding DL's in ADSIEdit (ShowInAddressBook), but one of our customers have multiple SMTP-addresses and they still have two problems:

The users made by the customer admin have 7 different logon-domains (name@domain1.com/name@domain2.com etc) when authenticating. Their OAB shows just the users with the first domain.

The second problem is that users that do not have the first domain in their login-name cannot connect to their mailbok with Outlook RPC over HTTP for the first time.

These two problems have a root cause, the OAB (AL/GAL), I guess. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

Outlook password issues

I have setup hosted exchange and have several companies on it. One company has their own server/domain, and is in no way linked to our hosted domain. A few of the users there are randomly having issues when they open outlook. It keeps prompting for their username and password. I delete their outlook profile and recreate it and everything is fine for a while. Then at some point (usually a couple of weeks later) I get a call saying they can't login again. Most of the users in that company are not having an issue, it's just a few that are. Could this be because they have their own domain? Any suggestions on what could be causing this?

Autodiscover problem - 600 Invalid Request

Im accessing an autodiscover site behind an ISA 2006 firewall.

I login using FBA on the FW and behing i use Integrated.

When I access the site I get 600 Invalid Request.

Can somebody help me - please ask for more info as this is not a lot but i dont know what else is needed.

I have this messsage :

I learn the help for the deployment and i don't find the solution.

In addition i have a problem when i launch this program ( Provisionning deployment tool ), i have this message :

This program will failed unexpectedly, if you do not have domain administrator memberships of equivalent permissions. Do you wish to continue?

Provision Public Folders with HMC 4.0

Hello all, forgive me for the ignorance on this subject but I have a client who has needs with HMC 4.0 and myself and my team have been banging our heads with this for a few days so I'm hoping to get a definitive step by step answer to my question. Keep in mind I am completely new to this so please be thorough in your comments.

They have an HMC 4.0 with Exchange 2007 enviornment already up and running and hosting currently. However they would like to be able to add public folders to existing organizations as well as for new customers. I have searched far and wide for a document that shows me step by step how to do this and there seems to be nothing out there.

So can someone tell me from start to finish, what I need to do to Provision Public Folders in HMC? The only thing I have done so far is created the public folder store in Exchange.

HMC 4.5 / Public Folder limits are not set

Hi,

In our HMC 4.5 with Rollup2 environment we have a problem to set PF limits by creating public folders.

The PFs are created without any problems but the specified limits of the folder are not set during creation. The limits are set to "Use public stores default" anymore. It doesn't matter if we're using Hosted Email 2007::CreateFolder or Managed EMail 2007, same issue.

Does anybody had the same problem or any idea what I can do to solve this?

Reply-to address for emails sent between orgs on same HMC platform

I'm having a small issue with email addresses and would like to solve this one before any of my customers "find out":

We're on a HMC 4.5 environment, and I'm noticing that when customers email me (I'm on the same HMC platform) and I double-click the sender in Outlook I don't get to see their "proper" email address, instead I get something that looks like a contact from Exchange, where the "Display" field reads "/O=UDC/OU=EXCHANGE ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=xxxx"

When I do the same in OWA I get the user's correct email address and everything is fine.

Have anyone of you seen this?

How to have multiple storage groups in provisioning

I am a newbie who followed the HMC 4.0 provisioning guide and got it working pretty well. One thing I don't understand is provtest and how to modify or add Hosted Exchange plans later. For example if I want to add a 'Platinum Mailbox 2" plan that used a different Exchange store or Mailbox server, how would I go about doing that?

If you can't already tell I am not a developer, just a Network Admin.

Business Store Issue

Dear Guys

We are running a consolidated V3.5 Architecture, currently I have two business stores namely, Business Store2 and Business Store3, Business Store3 was created two months ago when we found that Business Store2 is full of resources, after creating BM3 I manage to add resources to BM2. Now the problem is whenever I increase the resources from MPS for particular organization it takes the resources from BM3, so that I am unable to increase the mailbox size for the users who are in BM2 as it says resources full. Could any one please advice how to make the organization to take the resources from BM2. Thanks in advance.
