Hi all,

has anybody an idea about the wrong visualization of sitemap in the Small Business Starter Kit with Google Chrome? I can see that the "Try It Live" demonstration of that kit is affected by the problem. I'm using it and I'm trying to solve the problem but Chrome seems not to be interested in the changes I make in my CSS.

Changing the height of the "logo"

Am pretty new to this stuff and am trying to insert a logo that is taller than the default. How do I move the menu & body down the page to make room. I've tried adjusting the size of the controls on the master page with no change....

Menu problem in Google Chrome

Hi there,

I used small business starter kit, modified it for my project, it validates at W3C CSS Validation Service, and looks great in IE 7.0.

PROBLEM: Google Chrome does not draw the menu correctly - it is pushed to the right and jumbled.

Has anyone solved this problem?

I appreciate any response.

Three-column-container bg-three-column-home.png stopped repeating

Hello,

After modifying the text in the following <p> from the default.aspx in the Small Business Starter kit,

For some reason it does not repeat the bg-three-column-home.png file down the right side of the column.

I did not change the css-content.css, i just changed the text that it applies to.

Can anybody explain why the dashed horizontal separator line does not appear all the way down the right side of the column anymore?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

SBSK and SQL database

I'm trying to point to my SQL database for app data. I changed the newsProviderName="sqlProvider". With that, I get the error message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. In particular the source error reads: Line 22: string connectionStringName = sec.NewsProviders[sec.NewsProviderName].Parameters["connectionStringName"]; Line 23: return WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings[connectionStringName].ConnectionString; By the way, I have successfully connected on test pages to the SQL database and VWD added the following connection string to the Web.Config file: I have searched for weeks on how to add a connection string to the SQL database (along with table, username, password) to no avail. Can anyone answer this or point me to a general area I might find the answer? Any and ALL help would be most appreciated!!!

How to limit Items treeview to one deep?

Hello.

Using the Small Business Starter Kit Website, i can't figure out how to limit how deep the links can be activated in the treeview menu. I'd like to explain that.

When you look at the items screen, the treeview on the left under All Items, you see Amet, Consectetuer, Adipiscing, Pharetra Diam and Ullamcorper. Each of the items can be selected and expanded. If i click on and expand Amet, it display more links such as Sed eget Magna, Vestibulum, etc. with details in the center pane. Going further, if i click on one of those links, it will display more detailed items in the center pane.

I would like to modify the treeview to only go one deep. For instance, if i click on Amet, i want it to expand to more items in the lsit and show the center pane details, but i dont want to allow any furhter links that can be clicked. That list would be the end of linking and expanding.

I removed the child elements from the category c11, c12, c13 etc. but the second tier list shows as a link and if i click it, it simply shows a blank item in the center screen. This is what i want to stop.

I want to keep the link feature from being allowed after the first expansion. I tried studying the items.aspx, items.aspx.vb code and the items.xml file, and could not figure out how to do it.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Is anyone aware of any starter kits from asp.net or software similar to Community Server that I can use to help me start building a social networking site?

The website is already established, it is built with ASP Classic. At the moment their are no User Accounts. So, I will need to build them from scratch.

The requirements are an application which will allow users to create profiles, post their own articles, interact with other members, comment on other members work, as well as a rating and voting system.

Rather then starting from scratch, I am looking for some sort of starting kit or a package which I can modify to meet my needs.

Small Business Starter Kit C# Preview.

Hi,

I downloaded the Small Business Starter kit and am using Visual Web Developer 2008 Express. If I use the VB version the web page displays fine in the Design Window, however if I use the C# (the one I want to use) then it is deformed, almost as if the Master Template is not being applied.

I tried publishing it to out test site and it displays fine.

If anyone can tell me what might be wrong I would appreciate it.

When i tried to insert News data

i tried to insert my own data and i connect it to the SQL, when i do try to insert data it gives me this error, also i change in the database this default value to (getutcdate()) and still have the same error.

Setting up e-commerce site

Hi Guys im setting up an E-commerce site for a client and we are looking at the best options. We have been looking at using a shopping cart peice of software that we can integrate with our own ui. One choice seems to be:

Anybody know anything about it or any alternatives, we need something that will allow merchant account integration eg taking payments online....

Also if anybody can reccomend what the best approach to integrating with a merchant is that would be helpful.

Using SQL instead of XML

I downloaded the Small Business Starter Kit, and I need to use the news system. The provider that comes for default is the XML, but I wanted to be able to show data from the SQL News Table.

How can I turn off XML and use only the Sql tables in this starter kit.

Need to Put Line Breaks in the Product Description.

I need to put line breaks in the product description. I'm using XML for now. My product descriptions use bullet points, so I need line breaks. I guess this would also apply to multi-paragraph descriptions. For Example, I would like to see

Product Name
Description
- Feature 1
- Feature 2

What I get now is Description -Feature1 -Feature2.

I have tried \n\r in the description, but they get displayed litterally (Description\n\r-Feature1\n\r-Feature2). I have also tried <br />, but that gives me a configureation error.

Is this something that must be done in VB? If so, how. I need the line breaks, I hope someone can help.

Rounded edges work without corner images?!?!

I am having a hard time understanding how the rounded corners work on the Fabrikam website. I originally thought that it was using the corresponding tl.gif (top-left), bl.gif, tr.gif, and br.gif images for the rounding, but I have removed these files and it still works. So there must me some magic that I don't know about in the style sheets. Here is the aspx markup in MasterPage.master:

Adding Additional Atributes to Items - Need some hand holding

I need to modify the Items to add things like size, reference URL's, additional pictures, etc. To do this, I added additional columns in Item.xsd and added copied the code (and changed the variable names) wherever the other parameters were passed.

However, when I run the website, I crash and get a Column (variable) is Not a Member of Table Item error. I am assuming that the changes made to the Schema Item tables are not being recognized. I'm using XML and not SQL since I am not a programmer and at least I can sort of understand that.

I read an old post that mentioned something about remake the XML and save it over, but I didnt understand which XML file and I dont want to save over the existing .xsd file without knowing what I'm doing.

So what could be causing my error?

Hi, i just downloaded the Small Business vsi template. the installer fails with the following error message: "Installation stopped because the directory for the ProjectType value did not exist. The project type is invalid for your installation of Visual Studio." Could anyone help ? Many thanks in advance.
