I need to modify the Send Thoughts module so that I will get the users public IP address.

Can someone please provide some light on how I might accomplish this?

strip tags in asp.net

hi is there any why to strip tags from html in asp.net
as the abstract column we use in search , normally shows faulty tags results.
as far as i have seen on the net
i havn't found any proper function to remove every tag as we can see in php striptag removes all the html tags but asp.net is not able to do so.

plz help me out

Unable to find WebUIValidation.js

Occasionaly when working in my rainbow installation, I get the Internet Explorer error:

unable to find script library '/aspnet_client/system_web/1_1_4322/WebUIValidation.js. Try placing this file manually, or reinstall by running 'aspnet_regiis -c'.

This file exists in my installation so I don't know why it can't be found. When I tried running aspnet_regiis -c it couldn't be found.

I get this error, for example, when I'm trying to edit collection properties of the language module.

I'm running a brand new installation. (Rainbow 2006) W2K Pro, Sql Server 2000 Eval.

I localize my portal, but date in american format - mm/dd/yyyy.
How I can display date in dd.mm.yyyy format? When I input date in this format - it's verify on page - and write - "incorrect date".

I have just create a modules in rainbow and add a few images to this modules , then i add this module to a new page but when i run Rainbow , new page cannot display images .

Rainbow 1.6 migration to .net 2.0

Hi,

Has any one tried to build Rainbow 1.6 on .net 2.0 Framework? We used Rainbow 1.6 and have made a lot of custom changes. We simply don't want to get the Rainbow 2.0 and then re-do all the changes.

It seems easier to be able to build Rainbow 1.6 on .net 2.0 Framework.

Has any one tried it?

Compile Error after migration or portal to new server

Hi -

I moved my rainbow 2006 application to a new server. I am getting the following error:

Compiler Error Message: CS0246: The type or namespace name 'ControlDesigner'
could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

I also get an error:

I have re-added references to system.web and system.directoryservices -- I have also re-compiled
the rainbow project and re-started iis, rebooted server.

Is there anything else I should try? Do I need to install rainbow on this new server? The Server
is running Windows Server 2003 sp2 -- DotNet Framework 2.0

Hi,

i would like to know what the future of Rainbow is. Can anybody tell me, who exactly is working on the next version (2.1)? Is anybody interested to contribute? I have seen several attempts of developers to join the project. But when i look at the svn repository or in the log files i still see only one single person doing something from time to time (dimitry?). So, what is going on?

I got Rainbow going under "medium trust". Well, _my_ configuration. I'm not using each and every module. But i think i know something about it and will take over this part. I also found and fixed some localization bugs (i'm from Germany). I have a project in the pipe and want to realize it using the latest version of Rainbow. So, i'm motivated to get it "production ready".

I always _hear_ that there are people working on something, but i _see_ noone except Dimitry. So, would you please speak up. Who is actively working on Rainbow? Who wants to help?

I wanted to know how to log in IIS files that are downloaded throw rainbow.
Logging is activated under IIS but it doesn't log the files downloaded throw rainbow ( but it works with filed downloaded normally)

How to implement ASP.NET Ajax in Rainbow 2.0

Hi Everybody,

I had installed the Rainbow 2.0 version, everything is working fine. But I am unable to implement the ASP.NET Ajax controls like Update Panel. I had changed the Web.Config file of Rainbow.Duemetri solution i.e. added the sections required for running Ajax. But it not works, it shows an error

"ZenLayout: Unable to load control 'DesktopModules/CustomTestModule/TestModule.ascx'!"

I had added the ScriptManager and other required codes to run the Ajax. Actually the same code works when I use it in any other Ajax Enabled website.

Rainbow 2.0 claims that it supports ASP.NET Ajax. But I don't think so.

Could any one please give some idea to resolve this problem.

I have a problem. When opening rainbow 2006 with l visual studio 2005 leaves an assistant to make compatible between visual studio 2003 (of rainbow 2006) and visual studio 2005, but it does not finalize correctly. They are left archives without making compatible.

That I can do?

Folks, I am trying to make a portal framework decision (on asp.net atleast v2 or higher) and I keep coming back to RAINBOW. 2 Qs:

Does Rainbow allow integrated Windows Authentication? In other words can a Windows User mydomain\myuser gain access to Rainbow Portal sections without needing to login in to Rainbow specifically? If so could somebody point me in the direction of a technical how-to to enable 'Windows Integrated Rainbow Logins' and how does this mesh with the authourisation configuration for Rainbow Portal Sections; Item Moderations; Item Comments?
Does Rainbow have a Wiki module-type? I've read about various attempts at porting 'Flex Wiki' to Rainbow Portal but I am still unclear whether this has been achieved in the lastest 2.x (beta) releases? I'm not bothered whether Rainbow ported 'Flex Wiki' just that there is a basic Wiki in the Rainbow Portal Framework for Asp.net v2.x'.

As a general Q, could anybody give me some indication as to the vibrancy of the Rainbow Portal Framework. It's certainly a great sign that Microsoft recognises it on a par with its official Starter Kits and I have formed a warm feeling about the responsiveness of the core Rainbow Team re: support & bug commenting/fixes. Looks great

unknow dll after Rainbow setup

I set up Rainbow portal on local on my laptop without any problem

I did it today on the server by opening a port (http://domainname:81/rainbow/default.aspx)
When I first loaded the default.aspx file, the database was updated sucessfully

Hello finished of installing Rainbow Portal in win2000 it shows the following error:
Unable to Continued
We're sorry, but we were unable to service your request. It's possible that the problem is to temporary condition.
When I revise the Finder of Events of Win it shows the following thing:
Access to performance dates was denied to IWAM_PVASERVER ace attempted from C:\WINNT\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\aspnet_wp.exe
Can somebody help me???
