Website has both http and https page and i think that is the reason am getting the security warning alert message.

Alert Message

IE8 - Security warning message

"Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?

this webpage contains content that will not be delivered using a secure HTTPS connection, which could compromise the security of the entire webpage."

Yes and No button

Case 1: click no button in the security warning and then click the login button in the homepage, post back happens.

Case 2: click yes button in the security warning and then click the login button in the homepage, i got the following error "WebForm_PostBackOptions' is undefined"

Solution I tried

1) Added WebResource.axd handler in the web.config file

still it is not working....help needed

VWD 2003 to VWD 2008

Hi, I am trying to convert a 2003 csproj to VWD 2008. I have successfully imported the project with no errors and converted it to a web application. Problem is I got 50 warnings and am a newbie with asp.net so that doesn't help. My humble question is, what does this mean and how do I resolve it;

Convert asp.net 1 to asp.net 3.5

I am planning to migrate a project from asp.NET 1.1 to 3.5.

Which one would be the best approach?

I create new project and migrate project to new project or direct open in .net 2008?

I have 6 class library and one main project have 900 asp pages.

components designer issue

I have one Component class called "Context". I can see designer of this.

I am deriving "Entity" from Context. I can see designer of Entity.

I am deriving "PersistentEntity" from Entity. I cannot see designer for "PersistentEntity". I am getting the error message as shown in attached JPG file.

I have already source code in .NET 1.1. I migrated that to .NET 3.5 using migration wizard. When you open the .NET 1.1 code in VS 2008. We need to follow few steps. After that, when you build the code. The code is build without any error messages. But the problem is I am unable to see the designer.

When you directly create Components in VS 2003 we get
xx.cs
xx.resx

but with Vs 2008,
xx.cs
xx.Designer.cs

since during migration I dont have xx.Designer.cs in VS 2008, is that problem. I did R&D from that point of view. But it is of no use.

How to compile VS2003-created webapp in VS2008 Release mode? (only Debug is available)

In VS2008SP1 (Team System, XP SP3 Pro rus) I open ASP.NET webapplication project created in VS2003 ( .csproj contains string
ProductVersion = "7.0.9466").
For ex, [1a]

VS2008SP1 forces the conversion of project.
Everythings seems to work.
But in Properties (or Property Pages, Configuration Manager or Configuration)
I find only Debug mode.

Though creating New ASP.NET webapp project or Website I have available
- Active (Debug)
- Debug
- Release

The problem is the same if I open old (apparently created in VS2003, [1a]) ASP.NET webapp as WSP (web site project), both from FileSystem (VSinternal webserver) or from LocalIIS or as WAP, i.e. from .csproj [1a].

So, the question is how to compile VS2003 webapplication in VS2008SP1 in Release mode?

What is determining in the code of website the outdated version of МЫ if I open webapplication as WSP,
i.e. without the use of VS project or solution files?

Also I'd like also to understand the differences between Active (Debug) and Debug

convert 2003 asp.net website to 2005

Hi All,

I have converted visual studio 2003 project to visual studio 2005 but m getting error as :

"Attribute 'CodeBehindFile' in the @ Page directive is no longer supported. Convert this page to the new code-behind model by opening the Web site (project) containing the page in Visual Web Developer. "

As 2005 does not support CodeBehindFile i changed it to Codefile, still it is giving the same error.. M stuck here please let me know how to resolve this.

Today I upgraded my web application from Visual Studio 2002 to Visual Studio 2005 by running the Conversion Wizard. Now when I attempt to debug through Visual Studio, I get this error:

Unable to start debugging on the web server. You do not have permissions to debug the web server process. You need to either be running as the same user account as the web server, or have administrator privilege.

I can run my project without debugging, I get this error only when I try to debug.

addhandler not work after migration 1.1 to 2.0

Hi all,

I just upgrade my project ASP 1.1 to ASP 2.0 with the wizard offer in Visual Studio 2005 Professionnal Edition
In the new version (asp 2.0) ,
the addhandler of my button.click is not work anymore.
That means when I cliked on the button the postback is performed but the
event are never fired.

The addhandler is in my form Load so everything must be ok...

In my previous version(ASP 1.1) every is work.

I don't know why, now in 2.0 is not work
what is the problem ? What do I have to verify ?

I am trying to convert an ASP.NET 1.1 application to ASP.NET 2.0 using Visual Studio 2005, but I'm running into some issues. The biggest issue is that upon compilation, I receive this error: Type "System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry" is not defined.

Everything was working fine before the conversion, so I don't know exactly what's going on here. Any help will be appreciated!

Migrate .NET 1.1 to 2.0 or 3.5?

I am planning to migrate a project from .NET 1.1 to 3.5.

Which one would be the best approach?

Converting from .NET 1.1 to 2.0 (by using VS 2005) and 2.0 to 3.5 (using VS 2008).

Converting from .NET 1.1 to to 3.5 (using VS 2008).

Since 3.5 is build on top of 2.0.Can i assume if i convert project from 1.1 to 2.0 by using VS 2005 which can be open by VS 2008 (just change the target environment to 3.5)? (right now I dont have VS 2008 installed on my machine, so i cannot be sure).

Why is the show all files button disabled in the solution for my Web project?

I attempted a conversion of a 1.1 site that the converter destroyed so now I am trying to piece things back together. One thing is that all of my form objects are undefined in the codebehind (now codeFile). So if I have a text box called Text1 I get an error "Text1 is undefined" in the codeFile. I really HATE when things are generated behind the scenes and hidden from me and this is a primary reason. At least in 1.1 it showed you all the crap it generated for you. How the hell am I supposed to know what's gone wrong when the compiler is generating stuff that I can't see nor get to? In searching for an answer I see all these refereces to the "Show All Files" option on the project/solution menu. Well the button for "Show All Files" is disabled on all my projects so what now?

We have many of our application running in .NET 1.1, and plannig to migrate all one-by-one, i know there will be a big challenge for this activity, What we are planning is not to migrate all in one shot, After migrating one application we will give for some selective users testing once we feel it is OK, do the next.

What is best way of doing this thing? Any links, thrid party tools, since opening this in VWD 2005, it is converting the application but many errors are popuping up.

Any reference would be highly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Calling a Public Function from the ASPX page

I know I did this in Visual Studio 2003 (ASP.NET 1.1), but can't seem to do it in Visual Studio 2005 (ASP.NET 3.5?). I've got a page that's part of a master page. The project is an AJAX project. From the aspx page, I'm trying to call myFunction(ID) with the following: <%# myFunction(ID) %>. On the codebehind page, I have the following as part of the partial public class:

    Public Function myFunction(ByVal ID As Integer) As String
        Return ID.ToString
    End Function

My function actually does more, but I figured I'd keep things simplified. Visual Studio 2005 says "Name 'myFunction' is not declared". What am I doing wrong? This worked great in Visual Studio 2003.

Can't reference asp.net controls in old pages

Hello,

I can't reference old controls, like textboxes from code-behind in pages that was converted from asp.net 1.

If I drag in a new control to the page I can reference it as usual, but if I try to use the old controls already declared in the .aspx page I get a "object reference not set..." exception. Why is this and how do I make it work without deleting the old controls and dragging in new ones and then naming them like the old ones.

The markup for the "new" and "old" controls look the same in the .aspx page, but somewhere I have to make Net understand that the "old" controls are actually in the page.

How?

Hi,

I have converted my project from .Net 1.1 in VS 2003 to .Net 2.0 in VS 2005 (web application).

My link buttons which have validation on them now dont work. These are EDIT and ADD links in my datagrids. They fire a javascript called WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions which is missing. I have googled a long time on this and cant find a definitive answer.

Some say it is HTTP Modules that need removed from web.config but I am only using 1 NeatUpload by Brettle Development. I removed it anyway but this makes no difference.

Other advice was that WebResource.axd file was not referenced in the page source but it is.

Another suggestion I found (but with no solution) was it was a problem with WebUIValidation.js file (but the post did not say what!).

When viewing the source in the browser __doPostBack js function is present (and works on 'delete' and 'cancel' linkbuttons - but my 'edit' and 'add' link buttons call WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions (which I assuming is new in 2.0 and called due to the validation) and it is not present in the page source. Do I need to manually update the WebUIValidation.js for my converted project anbd if so how do i do that?
