I am running into the same problem with the validator and the js error "originalWidth is null or not an object" I have scoured the forums and web trying to find a solution that isn't as much of a hack as a fix. (I also run VS web developer so compiling isn't even an option at the moment) Has anyone heard if this issue is going to be fixed soon or found a way to fix it?

Did the validator update get added to windows update yet? I haven't heard much about this lately...

HI,

I am using Microsoft Ajax 1.0.On one of my Form i have a update panel control inside which i have a dropdown control and some text boxes. i am also using some of the Ajax Control like List SearchExtender,ValidatorCalloutExtender.

The functionality of my form is like this:-Throught this form u can create companies.When the user select the "Add Company" from the drop down all textbox remains blank and when user select any company from the dropdown all textboxes fills with data.

When user select Add Company from the dropdown and without entering any values in textboxes press submit button.All validations fire every this work fine now when user select any company from the list the data of that company is not shows in the textboxes and am getting error 'original width is null or not an object' .

I am using ASP.Net Ajax Validator provided in (http://blogs.msdn.com/mattgi/archive/2007/01/23/asp-net-ajax-validators.aspx).Still i am getting the error.

What else i need to do in order to resolve this error please suggest

The Windows Update release isn't out yet, but there is a HotFix out that contains the fix:

I know that, but the framework is being updated and the fix above is a hack which was not intended to be long term.

I found the error, first you have to use the Validators.dll you can downloaded from the ajax home page and use that validators, add the following tags to your web.config:

<add tagType="System.Web.UI.WebControls.CompareValidator"
             mappedTagType="Sample.Web.UI.Compatibility.CompareValidator, Validators, Version=1.0.0.0"/>
        <add tagType="System.Web.UI.WebControls.CustomValidator"
             mappedTagType="Sample.Web.UI.Compatibility.CustomValidator, Validators, Version=1.0.0.0"/>
        <add tagType="System.Web.UI.WebControls.RangeValidator"
             mappedTagType="Sample.Web.UI.Compatibility.RangeValidator, Validators, Version=1.0.0.0"/>
        <add tagType="System.Web.UI.WebControls.RegularExpressionValidator"
             mappedTagType="Sample.Web.UI.Compatibility.RegularExpressionValidator, Validators, Version=1.0.0.0"/>
        <add tagType="System.Web.UI.WebControls.RequiredFieldValidator"
             mappedTagType="Sample.Web.UI.Compatibility.RequiredFieldValidator, Validators, Version=1.0.0.0"/>
        <add tagType="System.Web.UI.WebControls.ValidationSummary"
             mappedTagType="Sample.Web.UI.Compatibility.ValidationSummary, Validators, Version=1.0.0.0"/>\

and use the next validators:
<cc1:RequiredFieldValidator runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtFirstName" Text="*" ID="rvFirstName" SetFocusOnError="True"></cc1:RequiredFieldValidator>

and activate the controls that causes postback to CausesValidation = true
And all works Fine.

Yes AJAX is insalled on the server. I checked the version of AJAX on the server and it is the same as my dev machine.

Ok - here's the deal guys! All my stuff works fine on my machine (typical developer problem one would say), tested it and published it to the server. On executing the app on the server it throws up and complains about the validators. Downloaded the Validator.dll and the Validator.pdb, copied and pasted them into the bin directory. Ensured that the tagmappings looked kosher and tried executing the app again. NO LUCK. Can someone help me out here? Thanks
