I cannot install Atlas either - I tried to download it several times from different locations, cleaned up IE cache but with no success. I've never faced with such problems before, probably Atlas team should re-release the package but with different name and location?

Thanks.

Re: April CTP Install Error: Corrupt Cabinet File

I finally managed to download a good version a few days ago.

eyeborg: I think you may have just got lucky and it just happened to be when you'd given up saving the file first - when it was failing for me, attempting to run the install without saving it first caused it to come up with a security error (missing certificate I think from memory) - I think the person who mentioned earlier about "Unknown publisher" was onto something there: that's definitely one difference between the version that works and the one that doesn't.

I don't know if dud files were being cached on a proxy server somewhere or what, it was very strange.

But all's well that ends.

Re: April CTP Install Error: Corrupt Cabinet File

Had the same problem here, over and over, no matter what/when I downloaded the AtlasSetup.msi file it was always corrupt.

I was able to get around by doing the following:

Instead of "saving" the download the my desktop and then running the .MSI file, I just "opened" the file using IE. Not sure why it worked, but it worked!

I've also heard from the team that clearing your browser cache first may also solve the problem so others having problems may want to give that a try.

Re: April CTP Install Error: Corrupt Cabinet File

i solved it

first Perfectly uninstall the previous
version of Atlas (06 Jan/06 March)

second Clean the registry (ex. use
registry cleaning program)

finally Attempt to install again

Re: April CTP Install Error: Corrupt Cabinet File

Solved it!!

first Perfectly uninstall the previous version(06 Jan or 06 March)

ex) remove that and start registry cleanning program (if u feel worry about that please reboot ur computer)

Second Attempt again!

Re: April CTP Install Error: Corrupt Cabinet File

I had same problem and spent a day to install April CTP.

And, yesterday, I can finally download the CTP release which is installed correctly.

The problematic install file can be identified easily by looking at the publisher field of "Security Warning" dialog which pops up when I run the MSI on Win 2003 SP1.

The publisher field shown on the Security Warning dailog was "Unknown Publisher".

For the working version, it should be "Microsoft Corporation".

Hope this help.

If it helps to define the problem (and what it isn't, which is always handy to know), I've since tried to install it on a VM and my PC at work (including a fresh download), neither of which have WinFX bits or any other betas or CTPs installed, just VS2005. Exactly the same result every time.

Re: April CTP Install Error: Corrupt Cabinet File

Thanks for the feedback. I'm checking to see what might be different between the April and March CTP releases that might explain this behavior for some users but not for others. We'll rerelease if we can figure out the problem and fix it.
