I have come across this several times and it drives me absolutely nuts. Not sure why it happens, but sometimes when I look at the code of a webconfig file, webpage or css page all the script appears in one line.

The page genrually loads and I tend work around, but it makes for a nightmare when editing anything. Seems to happen randomly, not sure why or how it happens, which is why I am posting hear.
