Running Mac in a VM is kinda hard to achieve, but I don't know if your faculty has any Mac systems? Or if possible you could buy a Mac mini, and it's way easier to run windows on a Mac then the other way arround. But MonoDroid and MonoTouch are provided by Xamarin, and Xamarin has plenty of online samples and howto information. If you need any more information, just let me know. P.S. as both MonoDroid and MonoTouch are .NET based you should be able to share your business logic between both platforms.
