Thank you for responding. I was beginning to think that the asp.net community was dead. lol After a little research, I found my answer. the reason for the Path is that the table is a Path enumeration model. Since searches are done with string functions,
it uses that field when we query about the nodes. So the Path field is used as the hierarchy path for searches it appears.
Id ParentCategoryId Path Name NumActiveAds
1 Null .1. Games 0
2 Null .2. Books 0
3 Null .3. Pets 0
4 1 .1.4. COD 0
5 1 .1.5. WOW 0
6 2 .2.6. ASP.Net 0
If it is used for searching, I would think it would have a constraint on it as an unique key to speed up the search, which it does not have on it. The Id does but not the Path. So should it have an unique key??
