I have had a bit of a poke around now with the new site design and I wanted to offer up my thoughts [:)]
In terms of design I think it looks a lot slicker and its a positive step forward.
I was dissapointed to see the article of the day relegated to 2nd level feature as I personally visit the homepage each day to monitor the updates. As a somewhat regular author on the list it was also nice to know that everyone who visited would get at least
a glance at the recent article of the day subjects. Without hunting down the news it seems like we might miss out on the chance traffic from visitors just passing through to find a tutorial for example.
How does the spotlight feature work, ie will this include the article of the day? I noticed it has a "Asp.Net 4 Cometh" article which I didnt see in any of the tabs inside the community content so I was just wondering what the criteria is to be included
It looks like the What's New tab isn't working as I couldnt get it to load anything (only tested in FF).
It looks like whichever feeds you are combining for the Community content could use some duplicate filtering putting in place as it has two posts from Bertland Le Roy (and duplicate issues aside should only be in the Microsoft feed).
While I was writing this the whole www.asp.net site seemed to go down and I kept getting blank pages for all urls I tried to visit. I think this has been reported before but usually when people mention this I get the xml error code in FF - this is the first
time I have seen it in FF
Find a hoster seems to only have US hosting companies so this section isnt much use to me other than I guess I can point people there when they ask in the forums.
I have also noticed twice that when flipping around between tabs that the tab didnt match the feed being displayed but I haven't spotted a pattern for this yet [again, in FF]
