Well, you as the OP still have control over the thread and can unmark the post and in the same time leave a remark to that unmarked post to state why it's not the solution. This keeps the thread alive and guides members into a more precise direction to formulate
an answer for your question that hopefully meets your expectations and leads to a solid solution.

What also bothers me is that you Terri appear to have washed your hands of communication this to Microsoft.
Ultimately it's still Microsoft who pays the bills for these forums. Also I'm glad that the members of the ASP.NET team itself devotes a lot of their time to help out on the forums.
