I know its Xmas, and happy Xmas to all, but I would just like some advice regarding connecting to Oracle.
I have an ASP.Net 2.0 application (developed in Visual studio 2008) that I wish to communicate with an Oracle 10g enterprise database (this is the production database). On my dev machine I have a copy of Oracle 10g Express running with an exact replica of
the db structure and data as it is on the production database server.
I have been trying to do some reading up on this, but I would like to know (to make the process as seamless as possible when moving from testing to production), which would be the data provider to use: MSDAORA or ODP for .net?
secondly, how would I go about setting up the connection so that I will not have any issues when moving from the express edition on my machine to deploying for the enterprise production server. I know that on production I will have to connect via a listener
forgive me if these questions seem elementary, but this would be my first experience with oracle in asp.net, so i want to learn to do things the right way.
Have a gr8 festive season and a brilliant new year!!!
