Is there a way to upgrade from 3.1.1 to the 4x series? I see an upgrade file under the download section at
www.dotnetnuke.com but it appears to only work within the 4x series. Is this true? If not, then I see it as pointless to upgrade and improve my 3x install if, in the end, I have to rebuild the site entirely down the road. I would be willing
to do the upgrade without any add-on modules as it would still save me hours, if not days, of work.
You can upgrade a DNN3 install site to DNN4 easily (you have to remember to go into IIS setting and tell the site to run under asp.net 2.0 because right now you probably have it set to run your DNN3 site in ASP.NET 1.1).
It's the DEFVELOPMENT DNN3 sites that wont upgrade to DNN4.
There is an advantage of doing the upgrade. I had a bunch of errors from my webserver configuration that I was able to clear up after the upgrade. ASP.NET 2.0 gave me better error messages.
