Ah, I'm glad someone else is having the same problems. Since a few days, I am seeing the same thing in Firefox (1.0.7 and 1.5 RC 3). I have investigated this a bit and it looks like the bg_content.gif image is the problem.
Try going to http://beta.asp.net/i/bg_content.gif with Firefox. Make sure it is not scaled. If you try to scroll on that image, you will see Firefox consumes lots of CPU. Also, if you refresh this image several
times, I sometimes get an error in Firefox: The image “http://beta.asp.net/i/bg_content.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
I copied this image to my local machine, opened it in Paint and saved it as a new gif (without modifying anything). The result is a gif which looks exactly the same, but is 1kb larger, and does not screw up in Firefox:
http://www.wilcob.com/wilco/downloads/bg_content2.gif.
Another weird thing is that someone else sees a black image on the bg_content on this forum, while he sees a white one when he goes to my version (using Firefox 1.0.7).
