Since this will be part of the SP for VS2005, is the RC of Web Application Projects considered "done" as a standalone product but pending official approval for incorporation into the SP?

Or, is there a "final"/RTM build of the standalone product coming in a few days?

I guess my bottom line is: Should I download it now or wait another week or so?

Thanks.  I'm very thrilled that you guys put so much work into this.

    Hi Ashaman,

We are not quite done yet with the standalone download -- we are planning on spending this month responding to any bugs people find and then "finish" it and deliver a final build.  We'll then role this into SP1 as well.

It would be great if you could download it now and give it a try.  If you find any issues with it, please report them here and we can help you with them (or even provide private builds with fixes in them).  Our goal is to get as much real-world customer usage as possible so that we can fix any remaining issues before it ships.

    Thanks,

    Scott

"It would be great if you could download it now and give it a try."

Since you ask so nicely (really... since your blog says that this does not change existing functionality but only provides more project type choices) I'll give it a spin.  I have a truckload of 2003 apps I want to migrate over to 2005.

Here are two tutorials that walkthrough how to migrate an application step by step:

    C#: http://webproject.scottgu.com/CSharp/Migration/Migration.aspx

    VB: http://webproject.scottgu.com/VisualBasic/Migration/Migration.aspx

    Hope this helps,

    Scott
