    Hi there

i will apologise ahead of time if this topic has been posted before.

I need to deploy my newly built asp.net app on my collegue's computer. I have her C drive mapped to mine and i have the permission to write to her disc.

What would be the easiest and the fastest method to deploy the app so she can test it? Simply moving the files over doesn't work. What are other options. Detailed instructions are welcome.

    Thanks

I think an issue here is that no one is working with ASP.NET 1.0.  Most moved to ASP.NET 1.1 as soon as it came out several years ago.

Does your colleague have a web server on her machine?

Do you have a web server on your machine?

Are you located on the same domain?

What do you mean by "simply moving the files over doesn't work"?  Does that mean it is not an option in your situation, or it's an option you tried but couldn't get it to work?

And overall, I am just curious why you need to do this?  Does she simply need to run the application to test it?  Or to make changes to the code?

If it's just to test it, depending on your network setup and whether or not you are actually running IIS, she should be able to access the site directly via her browser by using your machine's IP address, no mapping at all needed.

Sorry for the random questions, some of which are likely not pertinent to your situation. We just need a better idea of what your situation is in order to make recommendations.

    Hi

thanks for the reply, i am actually running asp.net 1.1, sorry i didnt know that 1.1 is that different from 1, i guess i meant to say that i am not running 2.0

I need to deploy it onto the live server, i have tried deploying it to my colleague's machine by simply copying the files over and after creating strong assembly and registering all the 3rd party components, i was still getting the weirdest errors. After that i just gave up and gave her a link to test it directly from my machine. However, we are making it live soon, so thats why i need to deploy it.

    thanks again
