Several companies have been packaging the free "simple viewer" flash photo gallery into various dotnetnuke modules.  I have tried using this module from two different companies, and nobody has been able to help get it running on our dnn installation/server.  The software creates the appropriate directories, thumbnails, and xml data files... but when the module loads the XML data file it freezes.

Does anyone know if there are any DNN configuration that might be interfering?  Or at least give me some direction to look.  I know I haven't supplied a lot of information.  Other flash modules are working in the installation, just not the simple viewer.

    Jon,

Sorry I couldn't track down your issue. You seem to be the only one having any issues with this module. I even replicated your installation with several child portals and was able to install and use the module at will without any issues.

I refunded your purchase, if I track down the issue or find out anything pertaining to why you are having display issues, I will send you out the updated module for free.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

I do appreciate the refund, really.  My intent isn't to publicize which module didn't work but to discover if there is some other reason causing this not to work.  There is obviously something different about our installation than anyone elses?

The only other thing I can suggest, and this is a longshot, is to make sure your FlashPlayer is up to date and try it again.

You are not the only one with this problem (same module and simpleviewer).

Thumbnails folder and xml file are created, but no photo gallery (just "loading xml data").

I can get it working on localhost on my development machine.

When trying the same on our dedicated server I am  getting the same symptoms as you. Have tried with DNN 311, 320 and 322. I have the newest flashplayer, and have tried with IE, Firefox and Opera. On firefox the bottom statusbar says "looking up portals..." when viewing the page.

Our production server has windows 2003 and plesk control panel, the DNN setup is pretty standard.

Hope the problem can be solved.

    Paul,

I just sent a new package and instructions to Jon. If it solves the issues your both experiencing, I will also send it out to you as well.

I am trying to figure this out, trust me. But my setup on my live server is a lot like yours and I am just not having the same issues.

It's a tough nut to crack, but we're trying.....
