Major update: This module does NOT need to create one role per user. Pages can be seen by all users - click here for an example HomePage...

User-customizable pages ala "My Yahoo" style! Have any of your users ever wanted to:

    • Have their own webpage and keep a list of their favorite links and websites?
    • Store their own photos in a photo album or keep a blog?
    • Put a picture of their pet cat on the front of your website and you said no?
    • Make a webpage with their own choice of colours and layout?

Well Smart-Thinker HomePage makes this all possible and more! Try the DEMO here...

    New Features:

    •     Does NOT need 1 Role per User - creates only ONE role
    •     Fully commented source
    •     Admin decides location of pages and visibility
    •     Minor bug fixes
    •     HomePages now viewable by all users - you can give out the URL!

At the click of a button, a new page is created for a user. They are given a scaled-down control panel and can add modules from a list specified by the administrator. If you have a core or third-party module on your website then you could let your users use it! A user has full edit rights over their HomePage and can move modules around, add and delete modules and edit the content in their modules till the cows come home!

Smart-Thinker Subscribers have access to ALL Smart-Thinker modules and resources. Please read the Module Config Guide before installing or upgrading.

    <edit>UPDATE: WebHost4Life have now fixed the problem</edit>

Sorry, it seems WBH4L chose a very bad time to have a hardware fault on their servers, and all of my websites have been down for the last 2 hours. Their engineer assures me he is working on it (not sure about the 99% Uptime Statement ;)

    and I quote:

We rarely have hardware failuters on our servers, in fact, this is the 2nd hardware failure that ever occured in the past 5 years and we truely apologize for the interruption on the service. We have massive storage backup to ensure none of your data will be lost under these circumstances. Our technician just confirmed that the machine should be up in about 20~30 minutes. Again, we apologize.

Please try again in an hour or so....

Oh, you make me laugh, Rodney! That cat part got me giggling! Great job, and congratulations on your accomplishment in getting this to work without having to create one role per user!

Yes, great module! I just singed up at your site specifically for this module. This is certainly a flagship module with all kinds of possibilities - so I hope you'll continue developing it.
One feature I would really like to see added is the ability to add copies of modules from other pages, so that I can have an RSS feed already setup in a module, and then the user simply adds the preconfigured module to their Home Page i.e. MyYahoo style.

    Thanks for the great work.

    Hi Mark

Glad you found it useful! So basically what you are asking for is the standard Copy Module functionality currently available to Admin being given to the user (assuming they can see the page the target module is on and assuming it is in the list of modules they are allowed on their page)?

You may want raise this in the Feedback Centre on Smart-Thinker.com so it can gather votes (meaning it's more likely to go in to a future version!

Keep the feedback coming - I like to know how the modules are being used in production environments...

Right, except I would need to limit or control admin rights on the module so that someone didn't muck it up for everyone else. Basically, just being able to change the module skin, move it around on the page, and Add/Delete it would work for most of the modules most of the time.
I've added it to the feedback module.
