When I go to Admin > Site Log I get the message "Your Hosting Provider Has Disabled the Site Log History Feature For Your Portal".

The settings for "Site Log History" is 30 days both in the Admin and the Host settings.  I am running DNN version 3.1.1

    Can anyone help?

I have the same problem though it only occurs when I set the site log to file instead of database.  All the settings say that it will record 60 days of activity but when you view the site log you are told it has been disabled.

When you change it back to Database everything is OK.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    TIA
    Antony

Has this been repaired? I am getting the same error as well. Is there a current workaround?

Don't hold your breath.  I've been waiting for 3 months for someone to answer a question about yet another bug in DNN.  I finally found a "Work-Around" to the problem thanks to help from the non-core members in the community.  They'll probably respond now since I insulted them.

There is no bug here.  You have to enable this as host in the Host Settings AND in the Site Settings within the Host Settings section of that page.

sswanner1, you sure have a great way with words.  It is not the responsibility of the core team to answer every question, that is why this is a community based open source project.  The only reason I even noticed this post was because I approved it from the moderation queue just a few moments ago.

    Hi Chris,
    Thanks for the suggestion
I tried changing the 'Site Log Storage' option in 'host settings' to 'file system' and in the site settings the Site Log history setting is at 60 days and when I go to view the site log it says it is disabled.  Are these the 2 options you are talking about?

If I change it back to DB in in 'Host Settings' the site log works again.  Any other ideas?

    Chris,

I wouldn't expect the core team to answer every question.  Maybe you can answer this question.  What is the process that one must go through to get a question answered/bug fixed regarding a bug/problem in the core framework?  I've put several of them into Gemini as well as posted questions in the forums about them and nobody seems interested in addressing them.  I've watched issues in gemini that were put into the database after my issue get resolved and my issues remain "Unassigned".  Seems like you guys grab the easy ones and leave the difficult ones for someone else.  Maybe you guys are busy working on the next release.  Seems to be you might want to get some of these major bugs worked out before putting out the .net 2.0 version of DNN.  But who am I?

I appreciate your appreciation for my choice of words.  Wait a second!  You were being sarcastic weren't you!!  Sometimes it's the only way to get attention.  Just like a 5 year old throwing a tantrum in the grocery store.  I have to figure out some way to get my candy.

    Thanks!
    Shawn

    Chris,

We've both enabled the log in both sections.  I have mine set to 30 days, not sure of the other fellow.  I'm storing my logs in the filesystem as opposed to the database and it does not work.  The other gentleman who is posting seems to be having the same problem.  We are either both missing something very simple or else there is a bug when saving the logs to the filesystem.

    Thanks,
    Shawn

What is your value for the Site Log Buffer?  Should be 1 I believe.

Please look here. This sounds like it could be a side effect of another problem.

About half way down is the answer that I posted. Please note, these changes are done in the Admin menu file manager, not the host menu.
