We've seen some strange behavious with a hosted DNN 3.1.1 install with may also relate to a previous post: Newly set permissions not being retained in 3.1.1 modules and tabs  http://forums.asp.net/1061460/ShowPost.aspx

Does this mean anything to anybody?  It's the first entry and error on the parent portal event logs.  The install seemed to go without a hitch, however, when we fire up the portal we noticed that several modules were not there and required uploading.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!!!

     Mark

Have you talked to your hosting provider? It really looks to me like something is screwed up on the server. Either they haven't set the directory permissions or the db permissions properly (or both).
