I have checked out that site. The statistics there are consistent to some point. But you would not believe how much a .Net developer may make in certain regions. And those regions do not even have to be very expensive in terms of cost of living. On the flip
side I have also experienced some head hunters calling me with ridiculous rates in the mid $30's.
The bottom line is that it all depends on how you negotiate, how confident you are with the technology and how desperate you are for a job. Sometimes, not always it is wise to pass on an opportunity if it promises to pay below your expectations.
The best thing to do is to put your expectations in a range for the hourly rate. For example say a person decides that they would be satisfied with any rate between $40 to $50.
I don't know what the average salary for expert C# developers is; I guess that would depend on your definition of
expert.
Anyways, I'm replying to this just in case you're interested in hiring part-time remote developers. I am certainly not claiming to be an expert, but I do have a good understanding of the .NET Framework, as well as many other Microsoft technologies. I just
recently passed exam 70-315 (Developing web applications with C# and VS), and will soon be taking 70-320 (XML Web Services and Server Components.) Also, I have three to four years experience in the .NET Framework. If you're interested, please fire me an
e-mail.
I have been doing C# in Buffalo, NY for 3 years and they are paying $20 an hour. I don't think that I am an expert, but I am the only person supporting many systems and developing a wide range of applications for a 150 employee resale company. Nice thing
is nobody knows anything about what I am doing so I can slack off if I want to. I have been thinking about jumping ship to make some bigger money soon since I want to start the family.

This topic is old, but $20 an hour for a C# developer is nuts, Where I'm at they're getting in anywhere in the range of 55+ an hour and I'm not that far from Buffalo.
Thanks for letting me know. I was recently asked how much of a rasie I wanted and I asked for a 12% raise, because I didn't know how much to really ask for.

In Switzerland where I work It depends.
A Senior Dev like me with Certifications can obatin near 100k per year dirty. It's a very good salary here.
A Jr dev can obtain no more than 50k per year, It's a really basic salary.
