I am absolutely floored by how good the DNN BB forum is. I just needed something simple and easy but after I installed it I saw it was a fully featured forum. You can get it here: http://dnnbb.net/Default.aspx?tabid=157

It looks simple but effective! Does what a forum needs to do (from the surface). I will definately download it and try it. I need to compare it to the other free forum mods too. Now all we need is a decent store/shopping module for DNN3 which is free. ;) I can dream, right?

    Michael,

DnnBB is indeed very powerfull - unfortunately the developers seem to have stopped developement - maybe due to the fact, that there is an upcoming core module for this purpose (also I would still prefer DnnBB for most situations, as it seems easier to handle). I found a few localization issues I reported more than 6 weeks ago, but there was no reaction. It is a pitty..

This may be a silly question and excuse me if I am wrong...but how do you search the forums if you use DNN BB??

You're right it does not appear to have a search feature. Also, it doesn't support friendly url's and I guess there are localization issues.

    But it's free :)

This is the forum I'm using on my site and I love it. The user interface is wonderful whereas most modules it tends to be average at best. I may switch to the DNN foum at some point but only when they get a beter UI and themes (have not looked since initial version).

I wish all the DNN interfaces were done by Bonosoft\Nimo. Their sites and modules have very clean and professional looking interfaces.

Yeah, the beauty of DnnBB is that not only does it look clean, but the interface is very well designed, and from what little I've looked at, the code is nice and clean... to me the DNN forums are way too messy in all aspects...

Clean is King! Apple and Google have proven that.

Nice find!    I downloaded, installed, and set it up minutes.   I love the simplicity of it.   It is truly struggle free.

    Thank you!

    Just a happy DNN User!

I agree. DnnBB is very simple and effective and it was the interface and ease of management that impressed me.

The reason I like DnnBB is the granularity to which you can specify your security settings. As far as I am aware the DNN Core forums only allow you to specify one Security Role as the Administrators for a particular Forum. Whereas DnnBB allows you to set many different Security Roles with different permissions, which is what I need to achieve for one of my sites.

A couple of things that would be great to see in DnnBB though would be- search feature, ability to sort posts based on time posted, and the 'Latest posts' type module they had for the DNN v2 version.

I am a bit concerned about hearing that they arent developing it any further. I'm sure a few of else would be happy to help out. Is this just a rumour or not? I'd have to consider using another forum if its not going to be supported in the future.
