agree PortalStore could use a good manual... but I got it working in one day using Authorize.net .... I only have a few products so I cant comment on that...
At this point in time, I see, there is enough interest in Store front for DNN. There are some generous Developers like AIC-EC, who are offering Free Stores for DNN. If I recall from history, DNN is a full blown version of what was IBuySpy Portal, from MS. MS
also had IBuySpy Store. Now that DNN is quite rich in features, can't we have an "Integrated Store Front for DNN" ? some thing like what IBuySpy Store was ? What I mean, is a
basic DNN Store Front, as an integral Core Module/PA. For those, who wants advance functionlity, there are various paid version already availble.
IndianGuru on 11-09-2004 04:04 AM message suggesting adding a basic storefront to DNN. I've been working on e-commerce stuff for most of the last year and I would suggest that you will have a problem defining what basic is. For Example 1 - DNN is worldwide,
how would multiple currencies be handled. 2 - Taxes 3 - Credit Cards - Each Credit Cards provider requires a completely different software interface (plus some with com objects). I think that this is the biggest problem as some form of credit payments would
have to be supported. Would PayPal be a good choice in India or Japan? 4 - Computing shipping costs. If you are thinking about just presenting a list of products to customer and a shopping cart is fairly easy, but those are not the only things to be considered.
So what I'm saying is that agreeing to support a storefront is not a small undertaking. If you look on Snowcovered, you list of storefronts is somewhat limited (3) and could be representive of the amout of work. Lets thank AIC-EC group for their work, but
remember it is not only a lot of intial work, but ongoing work to support all of the special cases.
Well, as I have said, whatever is least, can be included (well begun is half done). Who knows, some thing started as trival, can be a full blown eCommerce Store Front with all the possibilities that you have listed; taken care of. After all, two years back,
who had imagined that there would be an Open Source Portal Software, comparable (or probably the best) to any pricy alternative, available Free ? (But you see, today DNN is here :) )
If your looking for a 'Basic' store front I've just finished developing GX-BuyNow at http://www.gxdo.com It's basically all the PayPal Buynow & Cart functionality wrapped up in a template driven module, not meant to be a eCommerce suite or full blown store
front (this is on the way for 3.x), but a simple quick way to get products up for when your just selling a few items. Ant

Question about the various store fronts.... Which of these (if any) uses your current user registration, so you don't have to duplicate account information, or replicate account information. I have a site running already that has a good sized registered user
base, so I'd like to add an e-commerce module that will use the DNN security module for logging into the store, keeping account records, etc. Any of the current stores do this? Thanks akahara
akahara : the chameleon store at kodhedz.net uses preexisting information to populate the form for ordering, as well there is support for customer accounts for un-logged in users via cookie. i am in the process of integrating a bunch of new features that are
quite exciting... keep posted

The catalook store and the portal store both can provide an environment of forcing the user to be registered or logged in to complete a transaction. It's a setting that can be switched on or off, depending upon your needs. Nina Meiers
I may be working on a front-end store with a back-end fullfillment center who requires EDI capabilities. I've been dabbling with ecommerce for awhile and this is the first I ever heard of it but I guess its the supply-chain standard. I've been doing some reading
about it but I'm wondering if any of the existing or planned DNN solutions might be capable of this. I guess one way it can be achieved is through XML. There seems to be many vairables and different versions of EDI. Hats off to all who are developing these
stores. FYI, my personal opinion as a user..., stores that require 3rd party cc or shipping rate dll's turn me off, especially when the 3rd party licensing requirements dont' match the solution's. Keep up the awesome work!
