My Frontpage 2003 beta crashed after intalling Whidbey alpha. I am getting a error message like: Cannot find entry point "?QueryNewMode@CowsAllocator@@SIHXZ in Program~1\common~1\Microsf~1/webserv~1/60/bin/fpsrvut1.dll After this MS style normal dialog box
opens up and asks me to send the error message. I reinstalled frontpage beta after uninstalling but the problem still persists. Any comments on what to do next?
The Whidbey Alpha installs a version of the FrontPage Server Extensions (FPSE) which are different than the version of FPSE installed by the FrontPage 2003 Beta. I believe the FPSE from Whidbey Alpha are newer. Therefore, if you reinstall FrontPage Beta the
newer FPSE will not be overwritten. If you must use FrontPage 2003 Beta the solution would be to uninstall Whidbey Alpha, uninstall the FPSE (if you have an option in the Control Panel -> Add/Remove -> Windows Components -> IIS). Reboot, and delete the files
in Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\BIN. Reboot again, and install FrontPage 2003. Office 2003 was released last week. The latest builds of Whidbey (builds after the Alpha) include the same version of FPSE as the Office
2003 final release, so there will be no mismatch of versions in the future.
