should there be a blank or template ngallery.xml file installed there? the data directory is blank. I logged into the admin section and tried to add a new gallery and i am getting that error. I've already added the aspnet account to the permissions on the data
and photo folders and given it read-execute, list, read, write I even tried giving it full control but it still gives me the same error. Anyone know what i'm doing wrong here? This is on a win2k3 standard server.
I had the same problem but then I copied the ngallery.xml file from my 2000 machine and modified it. I still get an error when I try to write to file. I'm guessing this has to do with IIS 6 and permissions.
Modifying the file by hand isnt an option for me. I'm trying to see if the ngallery app would be a better replacement for a similar app i wrote. The one i wrote is very bare bones. So for me to use ngallery, it all has to be automatic so that the users can
create their own galleries, otherwise there's not much point in my switching to it. Do you have any problems uploading images?
There doesn't have to be a template or anything, since it is all created within nGallery. The problem isn't that isn't a file, but the permissions are wrong. You don't need to give write permissions to the aspnet account, you need to give it to the Network
Service account... I think. I'm not at my machine and I forget which one I had to do. You could do Everybody, but isn't the most secure method.

you need to open the folder in windows explorer and right click on the folder and go to properties. In the security tab you can add the network service account.
what permissions did you give the network service account? Try giving it full control, and if that works, then drop it to down to modify, and if that works drop it down to write ... etc etc. Give it all permissions and then just keep removing permissions till
you find the least amount that works. i think i gave mine either write or modify.
oh... thank you very much~^^ I know my problem now. I just edit the Windows Explorer but the problem cannot be solved. To solve this problem, it must be done for the root folder of nGallery. and the network service account is already existed, it needn't to
be added. ^^ write and modify are enough for me too
