Just thought I'd let anyone who is interested know that I have released a beta of the Solution Partners Menu Module. This allows you to add additional menus to your portal through the adding of a menu module. It includes a menu designer that allows for the customizing of nearly every aspect of the menu. You can get it here.

Great work Jon, I looked on the site but I don't see the menu module. I tried to register, but it appears that the verification is not getting sent from the server. Any ideas.

Not sure why you were not able to get the email. I input your verification for you. Is anyone else not getting the verification emails?

Registration worked fine for me, nor problem with getting the verification code.

Well, it may be on our end too as our network guy has pretty much killed the network. Thanks for letting me in and I will give it a go and get you some feedback.

    Jon, nice job!

Is there any suitable documentation available?

The Menu Designer works nicely. I fixed a number of issues with the page layout and type of controls used. The page now stops extending as the <input type=text> expands to accommodate the text!

I can not see any reason you used HTML input controls over <ASP:TEXTBOX> controls, it all works just as well and because it is multi line the text can now all be read.

A suitable explanation of the CSS id's would also help as spmsub may make sense to you but to the average user it is a bit of an issue having to trial and error each attribute.

Only played with it for a few minutes I need to figure out exactly what you are trying to achieve.

Does the designer have any relationship to the main menu or is it only for sub menus?
I'm looking for a better (Open Source) solution which can handle the main menu layout etc.
There are a few available on the market but the pricing is over the top, for something that can be done manually anyway!

Screen space is the main reason I did not use multi-lined textboxes.

This being the first release of the module I obviously have a lot of things I want to add... Tooltips for the css properties being one of them. I chose to release the module early so I can get an idea on what other people think are the priorities. I appreciate your input.

Currently there is no relationship to the main menu, however, since it is the same menu code, it could be adapted rather easily to be used for the menu. The only hurdle to get over is how the menu deals with the different data source. I am aware of a few people on the DNN core team working on different skinning solutions to this and am open to any ideas on their integration with the menu designer.

    Jon,

    Thanks for the contribution!

When I installed a module, I've noticed that the second level child menu (not the first child) in the default menu displays disconnected - half a screen away from the menu.

Is this the thread to report bugs or do you have a separate forum?

    Regards,
    Alan

Probably the best way to report bugs is to directly email me jhenning@solpart.com.
There is no separate forum, so if you want to post issues here feel free.

Please send me an email with your the browser version you are using and what operating system. If it is IE for the mac then it is a known issue that I am trying to work out (which is trying to enable uplevel support on my site only). A screen shot or a link to your site would also help.
