In my opinion this would be a great feature for attachments containing code examples etc. Now I often have to point to zips which I have uploaded to my own server and I need to make sure the link won't be broken later. However, we must not forget that those
file uploads need to be secure and double checked for viruses etc, which make the whole thing more complex... And the software needs to maintain the uploaded files as good as possible (when a thread is deleted, attachments need to be deleted as well, etc).
Forgotten this, if the forums will ever be NNTP-compatible, attachments will be needed but those will be stored on the NNTP server. This would solve a lot of our problems I mentioned in the previous post...
