The thread for ASPDotNetSearch is kind of getting long in the main forum, I figured I would create one here for any issues you're having with the directory.

In response to the questions in the main forum thread....

Yes, Patrick and I exchanged emails regarding this. There was a pathing problem. I replaced all of the Request.ApplicationPath statements with...

    IIf(Request.ApplicationPath = "/", "", Request.ApplicationPath)

I have not tried the latest version in a root web yet. I'll try to get a test in tonight or tomorrow.

I placed an updated version to .02a. .o3a has been cleaned up considerably. I included some examples of the new style tags and cleaned the style tags up as well. The biggest addition is to the article management, the following features have been added to the article viewing:

    New Features:
Format for Printing - opens a new window that has the article in it without the DNN framework.
Email Article - allows you send the article to someone HTML formatted. (note req. mod to Globals.vb, code is in the readme file).
    Add to Favorites

    Fixes:
Cleaned up the display of the version information on the top listing bar.
    Style tags cleaned up.

Go to www.wwwcoder.com and logon for access to download.

Seems like there is some confusion about my two sites and how to download the code. I basically received an email from someone in these forums saying how I am out to "trick" people into going to my two sites. So let me clarify, I have two sites www.santry.com; Santry.com is my personal site and I do not make the ASP.NetSearch code available there, rather it can be downloaded from where I run the code at wwwcoder.com. You must register at wwwcoder.com in order to download the code. Once you register at wwwcoder.com you will see a new menu item called ASP.NetSearch, from here you can download the code.

My other site; Santry.com is where I make available traditional ASP code. I have many free applications that are provided there including a similar directory engine called ASPSearch, ASPSearch is traditional ASP that is why there isn't a ".Net" in the name. I have been providing the industry with free code for many years, and I have been in this business for many years. An individual emailed today informing me that I am resorting to "trickery" and the following:

"While I appreciate what you are doing for the community, this trickery only serves to hurt your credibility. If it were once I could write it off as a mistake, but this is a regular occurrence and I am sure others feel the same way I do and will start to ignore your posts."

I don't like to air issues here, but since this person wrote me, I am writing this in response to avoid any confusion and if there has been, my apologies. I have been providing free code and resources for many years, and I didn't think people would feel this way about it.

Ok, I have some new features and fixes posted to the site. It isn't available yet for download, because I want to finish off some administrative features before I release the version one release. Look for the version 1 release in the next couple weeks.

The following items are available on wwwcoder.com for testing, viewing, etc:

    Reviews, ratings
Add to Favorites for articles and resource listings.
    Contact poster
Add comments to articles and listings.
    Sorting on all of this.

When it's ready for version 1 release I'll post it here.

    Patrick,
Is there anything to do with the security setting of your download tab? I went to your site and couldn't find ASP.NetSearch tab. This could be the reason that you got an email from that user.
Really want to try your module, look really...awesome. I might be able to use this for my school message board. Could you please send to me at
    tanderson@utoledo.info
    Thanks,
    tanderson
BTW: I think your module is a great add to the community.

No, I just did a change today. I am no longer offering the search as a basic logon. Folks who have downloaded it in the past should have no problem seeing the menu item for the download. Anyone else needs to contact me to be added to the role.

The problem is, making my code available to the world that is the engine running my site, has opened my site up to people who want to "hack" a little bit. It let's me see the holes in the code, but I don't like having my site changed when I don't know it. So as of now it is just available to ASP.Net forum people. Just register and drop me an email and I'll add you to the role.
