When I convert a C# - ASP.Net 2.0/.Net 3.5 application to ASP.Net 4.0/.Net 4.5 (SP1Rel) framework environment I am able to step in to the code and debug and run the app. Where as when I straight develop a ASP.Net 4.0 website application I am unable to debug.
When I set up a breakpoint and hit F5 the ASP.Net Dev server kicks in and the browser tries to load up the page but nothing happens neither the page gets displayed nor does it go to the code for me to step through. Then after almost a minute I get the infamous
Internet Explore cannot display the page. I did uncheck the Just My Code check box in Tools - Options - Debugger ... and even tried to see if there was any latest patch available in the Microsoft Download Center. No help at all. I have been trying to contact
Microsoft and they are asking me to pay up $260 and open up a case.
Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated. I have a VS 2010 Premium version of the product and the applications are my own personal ones. Even just a sample web page in say a ASP.Net Website app doesn't get displayed from the ASP.Net dev Environment.
I can try from IIS. But I want to resolve this first. One thing I observed there is no aspnet_iisreg.exe for .Net Framework
4.5.50709 SP1 version which is what shows in my Help - About ... The only available aspnet_iisreg is for
4.0.30319 which I already registered. Still no use. Also I do have both VS 2008 and VS 2010 on my machine. But the issue pertains to the VS 2010 env. ASP.Net application.
