I have VWD 2010 Express and SQL Server 2008 installed on my computer.
I need to get the full Visual Studio application because I need to build some non web-based solutions.
I was thinking of unsintalling VWD 2010 Express and downloading and installing VS 2012 Express.
1) Will this have any effect on the website I have already developed using VWD 2010? The website I already developed used the 4.0 .NET framework and the Ajax Control Kit that was current as of the summer of 2012. So in order to keep developing that website,
will I be able to simply load it up in VS 2012 Express? I remember that some versions of the Ajax Control Kit are not compatible with some versions of VS.
2) Will I need to reisntall SQL Server? Because when I installed VWD 2010 Express, it came in a package with SQL Server, or can I just keep the eisting SQL Server 2008 and not install a new version of SQL Server? If so will SQL Server 2008 be fully compatible
with VS 2012 Express?
I assume that the answer to both of these questions are that it will be no problem, but I just want to make sure it will be OK because once I upgrade it may be difficult to go back.

1) The only effect you should see is a slight change to your solution/project files. However begining with VS 2012 you will still be able to open these files using VS2010. As far as AJAX Control Toolkit is concerned it is not effected by differrent versions
of VS but instead the framework version the application uses so this should not be a problem unless you upgrade your framework when opening it in VS 2012.
Here is a link reguarding Visual Studio 2012 Compatibility with Visual Studio 2010:
2) I am sure it will add LocalDB and other new features which may be utilized by VS 2012 but if I remember right not SQL Express 2012. You should have no issues deploying to a production SQL 2008 server as long as you have not upgraded the database to 2013
or switched it to use LocalDB.
