Instead that you can use jQuery for just show other products, or their details. This will not load a new page instead will load other elements. Also usage of Ajax will be helpfull to load the pages on click. Instead of loading the page!

Do you have to use URL Rewriting? I'd suggest, if you can, you look at URL Routing instead. WAY easier to implement and consume.
