Googling this error gives tons of hits - all related to the server configuration. However, my issue appears to be on my end instead of the server. I have 2 servers with SQL Server 2008 R2 on them, I cannot connect to either remotely from home. Both of these
servers though (located in different datacenters), can connect to each other's SQL Server instances so I do know that they are both allowing remote connections.
None of the tips I find mention anything that I might need to do on my end to make my computer accepted. I used to be able to connect, but am not sure exactly when I stopped being able to (have been doing mostly php/mysql lately). I have tried disabling
Windows Firewall on my computer as well as the hardware firewall on my router.
Does anyone have any other tips of where I should be looking, a tool I could debug this with to find out where the block is, anything that might help?
All tips are appreciated, thanks.

Thank you but I have already been through that article. As I mentioned I have already Googled and also determined that the server is not at fault, as I can connect from other locations.
I actually have a bit more information now:
I can connect to SQL Server on both of my remote servers when I conenct my computer using my phone's internet connection. I just can't connect using my home internet. What's odd is that if I connect Management Studio using my cell phone internet, then I
switch to the home internet, the connection holds and i can run queries. I cannot however reconnect if I close the connection (until I go through the phone again). I think I need to talk to my ISP.
