One quick question, why you want to have the column when you want to hide it, if its visibility based on some expression, then why dont you set the value expression of a column based on your condition. ex. the value expression of your column:

I tried to reproduce the problem in my machine, but wasn't able to. If I am hiding the column there is no blank space is coming.
Can you please tell me which version you are using and when you are seeing the blank space?
