Depending on your needs you might wanna consider to use shared hosting for your website.
When you require a large number of resources for your website you might wanna consider renting a virtual private server, and in that case it might be usefull to study some Internet Information Services and basic Windows Server stuff.
Azure is there in all kinda sorts, and basicly is azure some kinda windows server in the cloud. And you might wanna look into Microsoft Azure for Websites, if im correct its almost of entirely free.
But when developing using ASP.NET it's wisely to have some common knowledge about Win Server and Internet Information Services.

Yes as m.koopman said you better find shared hosting. If you dont know how azure works, it will costly for you. You can find ASP.NET shared hosting on Microsoft site,
http://www.microsoft.com/web/hosting, take a look asphostportal.com and hostforlife.eu for european server.

Dec 15, 2012 08:15 PM|LINK
Can someone tell me how much must i know of Windows Server to bring a website to life?
When is necessary to know about Windows Server?
What is the relationship beetween Windows Azure and Windows Server? If i study Azure pretty hard i wont need Windows Server?
Will Windowes Server become obsolete due to Azure?
