I'm not really getting your question. You want to have
http://forums.asp.net to become a link automatically? Simply set a space between other tokens or characters and type in the url, then use a space character. If your browser supports it then the link gets automatically inserted. I just tested it with IE10
and it worked for me. I do seem to remember we had some problems with the TinyMCE editor in combination with Firefox.

Thank you for reporting this Ramesh. I'm using the latest version of Chrome and I'm also seeing the same behavious as him. It happens after the site update I guess. It wasn't happening before.
Hi, I got the same problem. please try this process to make it actual url..
first paste this
http://forums.asp.net/
then select the url link; then click "Insert/ Edit Link"(It's icon there) from the top of the menu, a popup comes; Then paste your url again to the link url text box and set your target.
another thing to make use of is to select the piece of text, then type ctrl + k and the hyperlink box appears. That shortcut also works in other Microsoft tools like Word and such.
I solely use IE10 to browse this site myself as it provides the best experience. For gmail for example I make use of Chrome (I have like 3-4 different browsers installed for testing my applications anyway).

Sure. Make use of IE for the time being. I have no intel on this one but it could be that there was an upgrade of the Tiny MCE editor, a third party one used on these forums, which introduced this behavior.
I'll leave this one open for the people responsible for maintaining the software of these forums and site to find out what's wrong and answer this thread.

According to the http://forums.asp.net/187.aspx/1?What+s+New overview the last upgrade was in May 2012 which seems pretty old to me.
