I have a project written in ASP.NET webforms using Visual Studio in C#. I must say, I like the whole paradigm very much, even the webforms bit (I know some don't like it, but I prefer it to MVC).
Well, anyway... I like ASP.NET, but the Windows 8 affair has dismayed me so much from Microsoft, I can't even look at the new VS 2012 without being repulsed (let alone the start screen). In short, I am just disgusted at Microsoft's current policy (and I
was a bit of a fan in the past! But W8 is just too much)
So, what's the alternative to asp.net and Visual Studio? Of course I know about PHP, Ruby etc. I am asking what is the framework that replicates the ASP.NET Webforms + Visual Studio experience as truthful as possible?
I know this post might sound a bit trollish on this forum.. trust me, I am NOT happy that I feel this way (I am particpating in this forum since almost
ten years..)

In my opinion, no one forced you to install Windows 8. Personally I prefer Windows 7 and I'm still using it at my office and home. You should've also use it if you don't like Windows 8.

There is alway RoR, and Node.js is gaining momentum. If you are a big javascript nut then I would go with Node.js.

Nothing, really. That's why asp.net is known as a very powerful technology. If you really need an alternative, you can think of JSF.
