I am trying to download and install web development tools from here:
But everytime I click on the download link "Install Now" it opens Web Platform Installer 4. And when I click on Install, it first tries to install Windows Azure SDK for .NET (VS 2012) - Latest. After few seconds I am getting the error: "You must upgrade
or update Operating Systems to the latest Service Pack using Window Update to meet the requirement before installing this product."
I am using Vista SP2. I've googled and found that it should work on Vista SP2.
Can anyone please let me know if I am missing something or there are some download issues from asp.net site ?
Thanks in advance

Just for fun, I would recommend installing .net framework 4.5 since its going to need that anyway.

Thanks for your reply. I have already done that. I installed Framework 3.5 SP1 and Framework 4.5. Do I need to install Framework 4 as well ?

Hm, ok you've already gone there? That is a strange problem. Have you tried re-applying the Vista SP2? Could be something funky going on in your OS.

I don't know, will try to re-apply Vista SP2 manually again and will post back, thank you.

Well, I tried almost everything. Re-installed Windows Vista, Updated to Vista SP2, installed Framework 3.5 SP1, 4 and 4.5
Unfortunately I am getting the same error. Any more suggestions anyone please ?

Vista is not in the list of supported operating systems for the Windows Azure SDK for .NET.
Looks like they added this to the "Get Everything in One Simple Install" method causing your installation issue on Vista. You might have to install each item you require individually instead of using their "Get Everything in One Simple Install" link...

You are absolutely right. When I was checking the link for supported OS I was clicking the link provided on the error message. In it was showing that Vista SP2 was supported.
Thanks for your reply and I will now install all manually.
Can I also ask if I need to install Express 2012 OR Express 2010 ? I will be using for online Tutorials for the beginners and using using Vista SP2.

I am sorry to say once again I think you might have issues with Visual Studio 2012 products...
Once again Vista is not listed under the supported operating systems.
Your best bet would be to go with VS 2010.
However you shouldn't have any issues following tutorials.

Thanks again for your help. I've installed VS2010 with SQL Server 2008R Express and few other "add-ons". I haven't started the tutorials yet, but I hope will work. If not I know where to ask
