I'm using Visual Studio 2012 Professional on Windows 7. Source view works fine, but when I try to switch to design or split view, the file I'm working on freezes. I have to close it to continue my work (in source view). I've never seen design view working
in VS 2012!
It looks a bit similar to
this problem in the 2008 edition, but the suggestion there is to repair the installation of the "Microsoft Visual Studio Web Authoring Component". It's not installed on my computer and I wouldn't know where to get it or if it's even necessary to have.
Thanks for your suggestions. So I started Visual Studio from the command prompt now:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Common7\IDE>devenv.exe /SafeMode
But the same thing still happens. I do have the
Telerik Sitefinity Thunder extention installed, but I guess that's not causing it then. The extention menu still shows in safe mode, but it can't be used so it seems disabled.
I just tried the repair. It took very long, including two reboots. But more importantly: it helped! I didn't expect that as I just installed Visual Studio 2 days ago, so what's to repair? Perhaps it's related to the RC/beta version of Visual Studio I had
installed earlier. I uninstalled it before installing the official release, but still...
Well, the reason why I brought this path up was because I had witnessed it myself in the past. Safemode's usually the first step without too much hassle. If that doesn't help then a repair. If that doesn't help, well throw the pc out of the window (just
kidding ).

Hi,
did you install a plugin/extension which might cause this? Try starting it in safemode: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms241278(v=vs.110).aspx.
