We are currently running web app developed in framework 2.0 in Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, now we have converted it to framework 4.0 in our machine. But we are struck with the followings,
1. How to upgrade to Framework 4.0 in Server, there are two types of Framework such as standalone and web installer, which is the correct one for the server.
2. Just Installing framework is enough to list it in IIS Application pool.
3. Also do we need to change the default application pool in IIS to 4.0.

1. You could download
Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Web Installer) or
Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile (Standalone Installer) to update to Framework 4.0, and these are two methods of installing Framework 4.0, not two types of Framework.
2. Installing framework is enough to list it in IIS Application pool.
3.You need to change the default application pool in IIS to 4.0.
hope it helps you.

Uploded in server successfully, but have not changed the default Application pool to 4.0, instead referred the Application to 4.0 under Manage Setting of the Application.
