I am ruuning IIS 7.5 on Windows 7 Ultimate. It serves static content fine. I have successfully loaded up iisstart.htm and a couple of static .jpg files. I don't see this as being any kind of security related issue.
Under World Wide Web Services->Application Development Features I have checked/installed:
Under Common HTTP Features I have checked/installed:
Default Document, Static Content
I also have checked/installed Internet Information Services Hostable Web Core(do I need this to serve .aspx pages?).
I have noticed when looking at the running services on my computer that all 4 Microsoft.NET Framework NGEN services are not running(v2.0.50727_X64 and X86, and V4.0.30319_X64 and X86). When I try to start them, they start and stop immediately. Do I need
these services running in order to properly serve .aspx files?
Could someone give me a checklist from easy to hard to figure out why IIS is serving static content fine but not the server-side pages?
I am able to access my website using my registered domain name so I feel its something specifically wrong with .aspx server-side pages and not anything specific to the website itself.
Thanks
Edit: The website I am trying to get to work is simply Microsoft's "default" New Project->ASP.NET Web Application. I select this and then immediately publish it to the server using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010(WebDeploy.exe) with no problems. I add no content
of my own. I am getting HTTP ERROR 500 quite frequently.
