I was able to open and edit a C# solution file created in VS 2005 in VS 2008. However, the Build option is missing. I've searched the web for a solution but none of the solutions I came across worked. Most of them said this problem can be solved by checking
the SHOW ADVANCED BUILD CONFIGURATIONS under OPTION after entering the TOOLS Properties menu. I tried that but it didn't help, please help.

Are you using the Professional version, you will probably find the free Visual Studio version will not have these options.

Hi and thanks for replying. I am using the professional version but the file I'm editing was written by someone using VS 2005. I noticed that solution files written in VS2008 do not have this problem.

Is the project locked or read only in any way or did vs have any errors when opening the project? Does it give you the option to convert it?
