Internet Explorer 9 Release Candidate and jQuery do not play nice together.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5103230/jquery-not-working-in-ie9-rc
You can either go back to jQuery V1.4 or use this release candidate of jQuery v1.5 - http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.5.1rc1.js

FYI jQuery 1.5.1 is out and if fixes many of the IE9 issues see: http://blog.jquery.com/2011/02/24/jquery-151-released/
The problems are not so much the fault of jQuery but the fact IE9 has become more standards compliant with regards to the dom.

The problem is with developers (me in this case) who insist on staying on the bleeding edge!
Thanks for sharing that info.
