Hi there,

this might be a trivial question however I am a beginner at this and really need serious help with this question. I am trying to create a main page for my website. However I would like to incorporate different boxed regions on the front page like the main page of ASP.net (www.asp.net) . Where they have boxed regions for Welcome, News, Feature Ads, Latest Blogs, Articles of the Day, etc. 

Could someone please help me or suggest which is the best approach to designing something like that. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I think that the asp.net website runs off community server which is a cms (i know the forums do not sure about the main site).

Depending on the style of site you are going for you could go for a straightforward option and package them up into User Controls or you could go for a portal type option such as using Web Parts or a framework like:
