    BeerHouse35

    BeerHouse35_deploy

    TBHBLL

OK non of these work. I was planning on trying to use this for a forum I wanted to build but these are not even close to working. I have seen several error on each of the downloads.

Is there a version that even works or is this just for training? There is know way I can use this for a client.

On top of that is there any useful documentation? No. This was a waste of an evening.

    Hey,

Why exactly weren't you able to get this working?

Which version were you trying to use?

Unless you specifically require some of the more advanced features, like MVC or Entity Framework, then I would have thought that this would be the best version to start with:

This is the version that accompanied the book by Marco, and you shouldn't have any issues getting started with it.

There are not 3 versions of the site. There is a solution with 3 projects: web site, business library and deployment.

    Hey,

By the way, I have just re-read your post...

Are you intending on using this sample, as-is, for a client?  I am not sure if that is what it was ever intended for.  This sample application is a supplement to a book with Marco wrote, not an enterprise application.

You may also need to check whether you are allowed to use this source code for commercial purposes.

I dropped it ... went with yaf. The 3.5 version is so not stable at least it wasn't. It shouldn't be on Code plex if you can't use it for commerical use. On top of that the star's don't relate to a working product. I would stay away from the 3.5 version.

YAF if a much better forum system.

Read the book and had lot's of good pointers but the same doesn't work. Spent days making fixes before I dropped it. At least I learned something which is what is should ONLY be intended for.

As far as I am aware, the BeerHouse is to be used as a learning resource, that is certainly what I have used it for.  It covers a lot of concepts, and shows how they can be applied over a range of modules, one of which is a Forum.

If you were specifically looking for Forum software, then yes, YAF is a very good example of this, and a lot of time has been dedicated to providing this functionality.
