Has anyone gotten Oxite to run at Go Daddy? I know that the issue is that LINQtoSQL needs full trust, DLLs must be signed, etc - since GoDaddy does not allow apps to run full trust.. I found this post, but it has not removed my block.
The support dude I spoke with didnt know what reflection permission was when I asked (yeah.. awesome right?!) I will probably get a refund and move my hosting to Discount ASP since I know I can run there.
If I get some dev time inside of Oxite, then I am thinking about working on a few data modules to make it easier to use in shared hosting:
Use stored procs instead of LinqToSql
Option to use MySQL data provider instead of SQL Server
Both are for small installs. It will make the general uptake easier as people can run in shared hosting where full trust is not an option and MySQL is considerably less expensive (and cheaper
).
The data stuff will probably go on hold for a bit as the entire platform can use some enahncement. The core looks very promising and it is the platform for an upcoming project.
I AM TEH INTERNETS!!!!1 MUHAHAHaha I'm everywhere!
But yah, hi, it's me.
At least I know you're honest. And now you know I use smilies in excess.
FYI, there's a guy who started building an xml file provider for Oxite as well. He's signed up to contribute, but hasn't started yet. That would also help for small installs.
What "new project" are you talking about? jk
I use DiscountASP.NET and it works very well with Oxite.

Did GoDaddy support have anything to say about not allowing Reflection Permission? No app running LinqToSql will work and that seems lame.
