    Hello everyone,

I've just watched a vid on Entity Framework 3.5 and it looks fab.

However, I've also seen that Entity Framework 4.0 has some interesting enhancements.

I'm going to be creating suite of applications and I just wondered....

    1. What happens if I start with EF 3.5 SP1 and in a few months get EF 4.0 when (.NET 4.0 and VS2010 is released?) - what will be the steps involved in upgrading? Any breaking changes likely? - I realise this is a little early to be asking this question, but I'm hoping someone wise beyond their years will lend some nice advice.

    2. Should I just wait for EF4.0 i.e. because major code changes will be required?

    3. When is VS2010 and .NET 4.0 likely to be released (no clever comments like "twice the time that it took to finish half of it")  :)

    Many thanks,

    Cheerio.

    1)  Get on the beta forums and ask.

    2)  Might want to wait about 35 years, by then anything you write now will be so obsolete your grandkids won't understand why you even wrote code.

    3)  When it's ready.  Again, ASP.NET 4.0 beta if you want info oin the betas and potential changes.

By the way, if you're waiting until new stuff is out, you're not doing any coding.  Doing no coding is a great advantage to the rest of us, since it's one less coder to compete with.  We'd all love you to wait.

I was hoping for a response that was a little less agressive and something a little more helpful and constructive.

Sorry for posting on the wrong forum - it seems like the right one since I was intentionally asking people who were already using EF3.5 as they will be more clued up than those not yet using 4.0 and they are the ppl more likely to know what is going to break code because they have existing code that they are aware of.

In addition - I am coding and so I don't know why you are suggesting I am not.  I currently use LINQ to SQL.

Those sort of comments make me feel sad and frankly I feel like crying.

    I'll try a non-microsoft forum instead.

    Thanks.
