    Those required third party applications?

Although this does not answer your question, it is indirectly related:
iis 7.5 supports FTP over SSL but AFAIK the plain ftp.exe program
that ships with Windows does not.  It would be great if Microsoft
    also enabled FTPS.

[Oops, I guess you might also be talking about Secure FTP, i.e., SSH FTP,
    based on the link http://www.example-code.com/sftpComponent.asp
    from vik20000in]

    Sorry.

Regardless, does any one know a free FTPS client that is also robust?

I imagine the Microsoft could provide a combined SFTP/FTPS client.

I agree with alasaadi that built-in is generally advantageous
to third party.  This forums.asp.net site is a good example:
the TinyMCE editor which AFAIK I know is a third party tool
seems to be less than perfect.

I like Filezilla.  It supports both protocols and it's an open source project.
